Out in Wyoming, first trip out west with the RMK, on the first day, the headlights quit working, and with that, no grip heaters, when I switched the Hi beams on, they worked, along with the grip heaters, Looks when I get back Home, time to take it back to the Dealer, hoping to get it fixed before we head out to Cooke City in 3 weeks, any idea whats up, to help clue in the dealer? I pulled off the Hood, and checked all electrical connectors, and Fuses, all looked good. Will ride out the remaining 2 days here at Togwotee with the Hi Beams on. This sled Plain Rocks!!! Thanks Guys, Kevin

Take the left side cover off. There will be a 6 wire connector and some of the wires are yellow. On mine the bottom left wire was kinda pushed out of the connector. Disconect the 2 parts and you can tell the one wire moves around in the connector. I used some pliers and squished the male side together, plugged them back together, then still had to use the pliers to push the connector into the connector if that makes sense. I found it by moving stuff around until the light started flickering. I dind'nt have hand warmers or low beam. I didn't try the high beam, but when my fingers were about frozen I had to stop and figure something out.

Hope it's an easy fix for you.

Thanks

I will check that out, thanks. Mine was doing the same thing, headlights were flickering on and off, then after a while, they were just off. I will investigate in the morning. Thanks again, Kevin

where the wires come out of the switches above the gas cap for the handwarmer/mode/highbeams they run right into the steering stem mount, mine had rubbed the highbeam wire through and had no high beams. i directed the wires towards the rear and zip tied them to the fuel line. you may want to check out the thread i started for wiring problems...

I was reading over your post, lots of good info. Mine has a production Date of 7-16-10

I would definetly check the wires in question....they ran directly into the bolt head on mine as well. Only 1 ride and already a mark on the wire. Zip tie & some extra tape to keep it from rubbing again. I found it easier to work on with the hood and console off but you could get to it just via the left side panel too.

like said above check the wires in the harness that come from the hood. Have seen one where the high beem rubbed on the steering post mount.

Found my issue, it was the wiring coming out of the switches, rubbing on the steering post. Repaired, taped, and tied the wiring back, all is great. Pic shows the green wire rubbed through.
