No factory Water temp gauge!?!?

I have a 2011 m8 sno-pro with the "delux" guage as they call it. I understand the water temp light flashes and stays steady at different temps, but it seems to me with such a delux guage and modern sled with the electronics they have that:

a) should be some way of showing the water temp on the gauge from factory without adding another gauge.

or

b) there should be an easy was to add a sensor/wire the gauge to show the engine temp.

I ride with buddies who have other brand sleds who can watch their temps rise and fall and know exactly whats going on with their engine, and I feel there must be some way to do the same with a 2011 sno-pro without having to add a guage. If one was to look at the gauge, there are plenty of icons on it that are not function-able, such as the handwarmer's icon ect.

Has anyone messed with this at all?

Thankks!

way cheaper (and cleaner) than buying another gauge

izzni is his forum name here.

I just got mine back the day after Christmas (same day turn-around).
It works exactly as advertised.
I really just wanted engine coolant temp to display (like you), but there are some other cool options to play with also.

$99 for the reflash if you don't need boost or AFR to display.

There is a way you can see water temp, its kinda complicated...you have to hold two buttons for about 5 seconds and then I goes into a troubleshoot mode, and you can scroll through and see each sensor, but the best thing to do is that gauge reflash I plan on doing mine very soon.

I've been considering buying a water temp gauge, but I just came across this thread. Genius! I'm curious to know how the reflash is working with other users? Hate to get this done and then the gauge goes fubar and the stock reflash cannot be done resulting in possibly buying another gauge. So let's here it from the people that have had this done?
