.....Not Really.
Little story of misfortune if you are looking to cheer yourself up over something that happend to you recently.
So on Thursday the 18th of December the 800 motor that I spent weeks putting into my 600, blew. I was out tuning it for like the 5th time to try to get it setup right. Finally got it running good for about 10 minutes, then it blew and I had to walk back to the truck about 2 miles and leave it there.
Went up on the following Friday and Saturday to try to tow it out, but it had just snowed like 2 feet. So after 2 failed attempts to retrieve it, ending in more broken parts, some broken tow sled parts, and the truck stuck twice for over an hour, I was pretty much ready to light the whole thing on fire and watch it burn!
It ended up sitting buried in snow for almost a week at the top of the mountain until it was finally rescued by some of my freakin awesome friends. I had to leave town for christmas on Sunday, and was gone for a week. While I was gone, they towed it out. Big thanks to them!
Got back into town on Sunday the 28th and started dismantling. Got the motor out Monday the 29th and the attached photo shows what was left of the piston. Didn't have the time or the money to rebuild the 800, so I started putting the 600 back in.
Spent all week pulling the 800 and putting the 600 back in. Finished it up on Friday the 2nd of Jan, then took it out on Saturday to meet up with some guys in Logan. Had an awesome day of riding with all of those guys!! (First full day of successful riding for the season)
Took it out again on Sunday and had not quite as good of a day. Was going up a hill through the woods on a packed down trail that was pretty tight between the trees. Dropped off of the trail to the left at exactly the wrong time, and clipped a tree with the left side. Turns out that it hit the tree at exactly the place where the primary sticks out. Wacked the primary pretty hard, and pushed the entire motor back, which busted at least one engine mount right out of the block. Got towed home, yet again, and have not even looked at it since. At least the one bolt hole on the bottom of the block has broken out, and probably more.
My will to do more repairs has been crushed.
On the bright side, one of my friends said he has never seen a helmet thrown as far as I did when I took it off and saw the damage......
Hopefully if you are having a tough time with something, this helps.
