Nice guys in mcall.

So I took my twelve yr old daughter on a father daughter ride today in mcalls super deep dream snow, she really wants to learn to be good enough to hang with the boys. Tough snow for that. When ever I get a opportunity to I will always help anyone who is having a problem, today it was us that needed a hand, and every single time someone stopped to help. Not sure of names but you know who you are, and thank you. She told me on the way home how impressed she was with all the strangers. Thanks for setting an example for our next generation guys!

This would be a great poll question!

I try and stop and help. Old man b#$ches at me. Wastes time he says. But I'll say when you get stuck that extra hand is great to have.

I never hesitate to help someone out that is stuck. It doesnt matter if its just a tug on a ski to pulling ropes and digging.

I spent 11 hours trying to get 2 sleds out if a ravine. Finally had 2 guys that helped us up the last 50 yards with both of em. We had 3 of us and we were so exhausted that it was all we could do to start the sleds to ride back to the truck.
Probably wouldnt have gotten em out if they hadn't stopped to help. We were just about ready to leave em.
The next weekend i saw the same 2 guys stuck in a different area. They thought I was nuts when practically bailed off of a moving sled to jump in and help. Until they realized who it was.
You never know when that favor might get returned.
Kind of a pay it forward I say.

at least stop to ensure you get a thumbs up from them, if they are good they will give you a thumbs up and you haul azz. Good to hear the majority do this!

I always stop and offer a helping hand because the next time it might be you that needs the help. I know i would have spent the knight in the mountains a time or two if it wasnt for other sledders helping out

It never hurts to build up some good karma every chance you get. I agree with Red Barron, because the next time it may be you needing the help.
I always offer to help. If they let you know they got it handled great if not an extra hand is always welcome.
The winter environment is so unforgiving that I cant just drive on past sleders that need help. you just never know when the shoe will be on the other foot so to speak.

its almost a rule out there. always stop to ask if someone needs help. I been riding for 2 years now and impressed with the kindness out there.

Unfortunately "almost" works for many as well. My son and I were down to McCall and had three groups burn right past, no nothing. The guy with his wife stopped to check. And yes we would have sent them on as we were okay. Glad the first groups had ESP. I agree with all the above. Ask, help if needed, get help if you need it from others. Makes for a great experiance for all.

Good sport indeed, would not be much fun if we all acted like buttheads. I stop and help whenever I can and sometimes when the people didnt realize they needed it. but it always makes my day when I know it took 5 minutes to help someone enjoy the rest of their day.

I had a group of six or so stop to help me on the snowies by Albany 2 or 3 years ago. The powder that day was sooo deep people were getting stuck just dropping off the trail. It was late afternoon and my riding partner was stuck else where and I was radioed not to go help because we both would be stuck. So I cruised around the trail a bit. There was a gentle slope that I thought looked like fun and I headed up it. Got stuck half up. The group stopped to ask if I needed help and I said if they didn't mind. Two of them tried to get to me on their machines and got stuck. The others walked up to me in waist deep snow.

I never did get their names but if any of them remember this and are on here, Thank you! I was so exhausted I just sat there waiting for my partner. I was new to the area and told them so. They even offered to take my back to the parking area. (I chose to wait)

This is the type of thing that got me hooked on this sport (including the powder) :face-icon-small-hap
