NHRA Drags, 5 mi. from me... ROAR!!!

http://www.brainerdraceway.com/
The track is about 5-6 miles down the lake from me. Always something going on there,,, but when the Nationals are in town... holy socks bat man, those top fuelers are loud even inside my house.

I sat on the deck awhile after dark last nite and could hear a band plainly. 'Spose there will fireworks tonite, so I'll watch that too . :)

It's 8:20 pm, getting dusk, and they launched that last car about 10 minutes ago, from the sounds of it.
Went to the track last year, first time for drags, and enjoyed it. Lot of vendors, food stands, race team pit tents, oh, and attractive young ladies too.

Went to the drags at Vegas last year for the first time.Watched the pro street and motorcycles for awhile and then went to get a beer.On the way back to my seat all of a sudden OMFG what the hell was that?Began running to my seat!Dragsters started runnin:eek::eek::eek:Going again for sure!!!!!!!

just got back from them. seen some very interesting stuff in the stands. i can't imagine what is going on in the zoo right now

I wish I could make it this year, but there are other priorities like my own race car!

Funny car is where it's at. I see John is in the #3 spot. Watch for him on Sunday!

If you have never been to the drag races at Brainerd I feel sorry for you. Some of the things that go on in that campground are not to be believed, it makes the Sturgis rally look like a bible camp, oh by the way it was on the news tonight that the Meade county commissioners (Sturgis) passed a nudity ordinance to try and control nudity at the campgrounds during the rally, "beginning of the end".

does anyone have any pics of said campground parties?;) ya, it would be sweet to have gone, lucky the track is'nt any further north, its storming like a mofo here....someone put some pics up if your there!!:D

That's true in years past. The wet T-shirt contest some years ago was the 'last straw' for the county.
I have not heard of anything in the local media over the past couple years that would qualify of a wild orgy.

I do know, since my neighbor works for the sheriff's dept, that there is a strong law enforcement and security presence there now days, 24/7.
I'll have to ask him if there's any party gossip.

Also impressive emergency medical access, in case there's some situation on the track.
Of course there's always a few medical problems with the fans.......no, not that kind. ;)

Bir

My bestfriends dad used to take us camping there when we were in high school during the mid 90's. It was insane! They used to have barrel fighting where guys would take empty 50 gal. drums and pretty much beat the crap out of eachother. Apparently the goal was to nock the barrel out of the other guys hands. One year we saw a guy fall into one of the huge fires they have at night. They were big stacks of timbers the size of a house and the dude was trying to run across the timbers and fell in (drunk). The skin litterally slid off his arms. O yea and John Force almost ran me over with his golf cart back in the pits. He was trying to navigate throught the crowd coming up from behind us, his electric golf cart brushed my clothing, never heard him comming scared crap out of me. I have quite a few memories from there.
I lived in Brainerd for a couple years and on a calm quite evening I could hear the cars running all the way into town at my appartment. Thats probly 8-10 miles! Being in the stands is so cool the sound and power goes right through your body. There is nothing like it!

i've gone for the last 8 years to bir and the top fuel and funny cars make some noise. i will never forget the first time i went into the pits and one team was warming up the car and hit the throttle and i jumped about 2 ft off the ground.

raining now but they got 1 run in today. yes every one has to experience nitro in your face in the pits. yesterday i shook johns hand was close enough to ashley to give her a kiss. what i saw last night was nuts just in the stands. a drunk blonde with no undies and a mini skirt was up by the fence with a sheriff on each side of her about 50' away waiting for her to show her breasts but she kept dancing and bending over showing off everything she had and the sheriffs didn't have a clue.

SO WTF is up with allan johnson going to saudia arabia to fund his new
AL-ANABI race team.

the sheik paid AJ 55 million for 3 years to tune and supply engines for his fuel teams. all the engines are leased to the sheik as well as tune up help for dale worshams sedan (funny car). Al Anabi also owns a few promod teams as well as pro stock bikes. its interesting to me that the sheik took such an interest in my beloved drag racing.

I was there 2 years ago..good times :D

Yeh, that zoo thing was back in 86 or so. I love BIR. I used to ride my bike there in the 60's when it was Donnybrook, jump the fence and watch the drags.

I miss going to the track. Always camped in the family section. I went for the races and not the party. Wiz, even on Gull we could hear the Top Fuel cars plain as day. 5 sec of thunder
