I was thinking of getting one of these; wondering how they are for being waterproof.

Also wondering if you really have to re- calibrate them with every 3000' change in elevation as per NGK's instructions. That would be a major pain.

As well, how is everyone mounting these to their sleds?

Thanks in advance for all replies.

there's been some talk of this one in the generalsection of Arctic cat... For calibration you just turn a knob on the back of the displaybox

Don't you have to take the sensor out of the exhaust, power the unit up so the sensor warms up in an area with no fumes of any kind, and leave it for at least 3 min.? This would also necessitate using a battery, because you can't run the sled in the vicinity (fumes).

It would really suck to have to do this halfway up the trail.

The ONLY claimed 100% waterproof set-up is the KOSO.

When I spoke with a very well respected Western shop last season, they were planning on ditching the Koso due to intermittent problems that they experienced on their own sleds. (However it's in their 2011 catalog???)

There was an article (results below) that compared (8) different brands of A/F gauges with INNOVATE XD-16 being the only true digital set-up, and as a result, the only accurate one, along with being the ONLY one with an automatic re-calibration feature.

ALL the others ESPECIALLY the NGK, were off by nearly ONE full point (13/1 vs. 14/1) along with delayed response time

So, you may want to look into that.....................................................before you invest in one

8 units tested in order from best to worst:

INNOVATE XD-16 KIT

AEM all in one UEGO Gauge

FAST Air/Fuel Meter

FJO Controller, Sensor, & Display

PLX M 300 Air/Fuel Gauge

DYNOJET Wideband Commander

Zeitronix ZT-2

NGK/AFX Meter

BTW, if you log onto www.greenhulk.net a Jet Ski website, most of the Sea-Doo guys run the XD-16 (although it's not waterproof, LOL)

no matter what brand you choose it could be smart to tune the a/f to sparkplugs.
If your plugs look nice at 12,5 you could run 12,5.

Did not have a switch the first rides... but no need to stop up the trail...
take it out to calibrate once in a while
