All Quarterbacks have a green dot on the back of their helmets. Why???

It means that they have a two way radio in their helmet. The Captian on the defense also has one.

I'm pretty sure it's not a 2 way radio, they can only hear the coaches, not talk to them.

As I understand it, the coaches can talk to the player with the green dot up until a certain time on the play clock.

This is correct. It's a one-way radio and cuts off at 15 seconds on the play clock IIRC.
