Nexteck Fox Float Rear skid shock conversion

I have been pondering ordering this kit to replace the stock steel spring and shock with a fox float. Has anyone installed this kit? Looking for some feedback to decide if it is worth the $700 price tag. They are claiming a seven pound weight reduction with this kit. IMO the rear suspension on this sled SUX! just sitting on the lift it sags . . if I push down on the back it will not come back up on it's own, I have to physically pull it back up. I have the rear spring set on 3 and made no difference from 1. I feel that this conversion is just the ticket to get this thing working right. I have also decided to remove the inside bogies and install ice scratchers. that was a 4lb weight loss. Let's hear your thoughts.

Suspensions are not supposed to sit all jacked up. They have a ride height. Sag if you will. Look at your car/truck. It sits down on the suspension. It's like that so the rear can drop down into holes. I've ridden stock XP's and they ride awesome. IMO

I can see your point, but this is not a car, it's a mountain sled and it should not drop until your sitting on it. I have been riding sleds since the early 90's and have never had one that did this. Maybe your right though, and I should try it first before changing everything?

I do know alot of people were complaining about the sag last year. But Doo said it was normal, designed with the sag in mind.

That said, the FOX Float reduces the weight, by quite a bit I hear. The torsion springs are not light. But then, the Float aint cheap. How much is a few Lbs worth?

Float kit

Hi guys the kit provides some weight savings and cures excessive sag problems. The biggest improvement is in the ride with plush travel and the high spike in air pressure near lower travel you never feel bottoming. You also can control the transfer of the sled alot better and gain travel that some other kits actualy lose. Skidoo uses some cool technoligy in building there arms but cheaped out on things like shocks? Remember that we are a canadian company so that kit is only 560.00 in us dollars. I am done with the night shift now and am going to bed after praying for snow.

is just the rear shock included or is it both shocks?
7lb weight reduction with the kit is just from the shock swap only?

If I remember correctly didn't some sleds have low nitrogen pressure in their shocks, that would probably cause what your describing.

Good Luck

That said my skid I built has two Floats in it and only weighs 32 lbs. The rear Float really drops a bunch of weight.

The kit includes the rear shock only, The weight loss is from the shock and removal of the steel spring. Replacing the front shock with a fox would gain more weight loss as well.

You work for Nextech I take it? Price aint bad at all. Will the upgrade work on a 05 144" skid?

We have kits for older summits also and they save even more weight because they have heavier springs. We have done so many of these and customers cannot believe the difference, espeacialy if you are a heavy rider or agressive.

The stock kit is a huge upgrade on its own but we do recomend the use of our air canister to allow adjustment of air spring compression ratio (this allows adjustment of bottoming resistance seperate from sag hight air pressure setting) 2 speed compression adjustable reservoirs can also be added.

I put one on my 05 800 151 last year.Went to Island park and tatered the strut(flimsy metal)took out the air valve on the float shock on the trail in to Keg Springs.Rode back up Renegade 600 rest of week, basically if this kit fails you are done. Not impressed and would not recommend, especially for the price.

Is there a reason why you can't pull off the stockers and put on some floats? I'm not familiar with the suspension geometry since this is my first Doo but I'm wondering why you need a "kit." For $700, you can easily buy two floats for the rear skid.

I'll let you know why when the kit shows up . . I ordered it last week. From waht I can tell, the shock in the kit is different than the standard float so it will fit into the stock bolt holes.

We have sold many of these kits and it is a very potent upgrade espeacialy for the price. We have had no warranty issues and if there is a problem we would apreaciate a call so any problems can be rectified (possible instalation error) Posting a bash first is not fair.
