NewEgg.com is rotten

Tuesday 10:30 AM, I order the Garmin 60CSx from NewEgg.com (NE).
Wednesday 2:30 PM, I'm told there needs to be a conference call with NE, my bank and me for address verification. Canceled the NE order.

After re-researching online, I placed a new order with Amazon. However, my Visa checkcard was declined. NE had locked the money with their system. Called my bank, they couldn't release it. Called NE to get it released, told they could send a fax to my bank. Called my bank & got the fax number. Called NE back and was told that it was not possible. (insert many expletives)

Gave credit card to Amazon about 4:30. Still waiting for NE to release my checking account money.

Thursday 8:30 AM, In about 16 hours Amazon has the unit in my hands with zero issues. :beer;

NewEgg.com is a horrible place to do business with. Then to top it off, they emailed me a survey. It doesn't tell you you're limited to 500 characters until you hit the submit button. Their website is a piece of CRAP too.

I feel better now.

i've used newegg and suggested newegg many many times.

they have been one of the best electronics suppliers i've dealt with...and generally great prices too. free shipping on many items.

sorry for your misfortune with them.

Used NewEgg and TigerDirect in the past.... company has a business acct with Tiger, and employees can order through tiger and get the company discount for personal parts too.

I have a business account with TigerDirect also, and they are a top notch company to do business with.

I have used them countless of times with no issues. Sorry about your luck!

Same here...never had an issue with them. They gave me a $10 credit that they didn't have to do. I made an error on a part number for a 500 gb HDD , and called to ask why I didn't have the $10 rebate shown on my invoice. They told me the rebate was for another part (a different 500 gb HDD) that I had not ordered, but then said they would apply a $10 credit to my order anyway.

Pretty good company imo.

Only issue I have found with NewEgg is crappy UPS shipping.

I ordered two 1TB drives, both came broken due to improper packaging. Returned them at no cost, and bought two 1.5 TB drives for the same amount of money.

Not to shabby, except returning the drives and getting new ones delayed me a week.. More just pissed as I had planned on using them right away.

The first time I ordered from them they did that to me

but thinking back on it there actually just covering there arss
and yours.

imagine some computer geek somewhere with your credit card #
trying to upgrade at your expense.

I have had no problems after my first order and have been using them for a couple of years..

after saying that for some reason I use Tiger more often

Just a bit of advice here for you...........

Get yourself an actual credit card, not a debit card for this sort of stuff. Buy stuff with your credit card, and then pay it from your online checking account.

That way if something like this happens, your money is not tied up in the VISA system. With a credit card, the reversal usually comes before your statement is generated.

Very good advise... It seems it is much safer using a credit card (someone elses money) then a debit card (your money).

generally true, but i treat credit cards like the thieves they are
it is "other peoples money", but great potential for charges which undermine any online savings, i just move money into the business checking account for purchases, this time it backfired

LoL what? Pay off your credit card every month and don't pay interest. WOW! What a concept! You can't "undermine any savings" if you actually know how to use a credit card. The reason the credit crisis is so bad is not because evil credit card companies are ripping people off and bathing in the charges.... it's because people don't know how to use the credit card and don't understand how the payment and late charge policies work. Maybe they should read that long application?

You SHOULD have a credit card and pay off the balance every month. You SHOULD have a credit card cause if you get scammed the company has Identity Fraud protection services and will refund your money (provided you don't have a track record of this happening). You SHOULD have a credit card cause if you have a dispute with someone you can get the charges reversed by said credit card company and THEY will go after "So and So Company" for damages. You just gotta know how to use a card properly!

And as far as Newegg.com is concerned... I've owned my computer Sales, Service and Support business for 3 years now and have worked in the industry for over 12. Since it's inception, Newegg.com has been a great company for me. I've bought close to $100,000 in goods from them and the service and delivery have been exceptional. With the sheer volume they sell it natural that SOME things will fall through the cracks.... keep hammering their support and you will eventually get what you were looking for.

And I happen to like how the website is set up.... it's very easy to find what you are looking for.... as long as you know tech items and where they should be grouped.

I have used newegg probably literally 100 times and never an issue

Same here.

I'm a photographer & I buy all my cards & memory there. Never a problem & ALWAYS fast as HELL!!

btw, as far as Debit cards are concerned, the same thing can happen at a gas station or many other companies, debit cards are run that way.
