Newbies heading to Golden???

K just looking for a little advice my self and 2 others are planning a trip to Golden this weekend wich would be the 16,17,18th and non of use have ever been there we usually ride mcbride/valemount but now with myself living in calgary it is easier for me to go to golden vs Mcbride .so just wondering what are some good hotels/motels that are good to stay at that our not to crazy in price that is realatively save to park your rig at. And one other thing is quartz a good place to go riding at with no experience in the area any advice would be great thanks guys..

Quartz is a good place to go for a newbie to the area. It's groomed regularly and is easy to find your way around. Generally good snow there too. It's quite big once you get to know your way around. Cabin there for warming/lunch. Parking right off the highway. Golden Rim is a good motel option, they cater to snowmobilers and have a restaurant on site. Rental Co. runs out of there too. Lots of accommodation options, check some of the golden snowmobile sites to get more info on which ones are sled friendly.
Avy dangers are very high out here, best to stay low and in the trees. The alpine snow conditions are poor right now. Lots of wind load, still some landmines. Tree riding, free style, boondocking... are best in the conditions right now.

I agree with Taminator, Golden Rim is great and very clean rooms and good rates. Quartz is good silent pass is not bad if you stay away from the avy areas, avoid Gorman completly as it is bad for slides at the best of times. Make sure your entire group has all the gear and knows how to use it. Have a great weekend and play safe!
