This is my second year on a snowbike. I currently have a 2008 KTM 530 with a Rekluse, JD jet kit, and exhaust. I am loving this thing but like everyone else want some more power. My timbersled is a 2016 LT with TSS
I have been thinking about building a dedicated snowbike, and have a good line on a left over 2014 YZ 450 for 5500. Brand Spanking New. My understanding is that I can run a light bar and heated grips on the YZ 450 with no stator mods. I like have the Estart on my bike, but for EFI that starts easy at all temps, I think I could live without it.
Now, if I do this I will likely spend the next 4 or 5 years on it, and a turbo could be a possibility down the road but does not count for the comparison right now.
Do you think the YZ will offer enough of a benefit over my well set up KTM 530 to justify that route, or might I be better off waiting a year or two with the current setup and crossing my fingers for a factory snowbike with lots of HP.
Thanks for your opinions.
