my local yamaha and other sourounding stores were told to not hold over any sleds get rid of them all as to a new mountian sled is comeing out that they said will be the dominating sled dont hold me on this but this is what i was told by a friend of mine who is in touch with some hirer ups that this sled could possibly have a super lightweight twin with a supercharger on it he said the sled is suppose to be super light itself they have been working on it 4 3 years he said they decided to do as to a 17% growth in mtn sleds each year, looks like i might have to get rid of my dragon for one of these mystery sleds? anybody have any input on this or was the guy blowing smoke????

I have heard there is something coming too but.................... I have heard that it might be for 2011 (I hope I'm wrong again). I have heard that for now the Nytro MTX chassis will be used for the new mountain sled until the mystery sled is dialed in completely (again, I hope it's 2010 not 2011). Yamaha doesn't want the same reliability experience Skidoo is going through.

I have heard the Yamaha dealer show is on Jackson Hole Wyoming which lends itself to a new mountain sled release. Yes, they saw Skidoo gobble up a huge market share of the surging mountain sled market. The also see Skidoo invading "their" fourstroke market so I'd hope Yamaha feels turn about is fair play and they delve into Skidoo's direct injection two stroke market using their established HPDI technology.

There is something different coming. I just don't know if it's THE sled we are all waiting for this time around? The aftermarket guys have been told by Yamaha to order some strange type of connectors they have never seen before.

Who know's with the new EPA gates to be met in 2010 the 2010 model year release is promising to be very interesting.

Sounds like a hefty price increase is also on the way. Can you smell a $18000factory MTX on the way?

I heard that the new sleds will be powered by fuel cells and be equipped with phased plasma rifles in the 40 megawatt range. I am not holding my breath on a 200+ HP stock sled in the 400# range. But if they make it I will buy it, even if it does cost a ton.

Heck, if they could make a 500# four stroke sled with 180HP they'd sell like hot cakes. They don't need to go crazy, just get competitive. They were able to do it with dirt bikes, there is no reason they can't do it here too. It's just taking longer than we all hoped.

Posts like this get my hopes up every year that yamaha will build a competetive mountain sled. I've never owned anything other than a yamahas. But after many years of disappointments, I have finally come to the conclusion that yamaha mountain sleds are custom built. What yamaha calls a "mountain sled" really isn't. Maybe since I'm expecting disappointment this year, they'll finally give us a stock sled to compete with. There I go again getting my hopes up.

One the mountain side of the house (if it weren't for sleds bought to be boosted) Yamaha has been getting their butts kicked.

Come on Yamaha............ I have been waiting and waiting for a Yamaha that can wear the title "mountain sled" with honor. Please don't make me buy a downer cow brand to get a "real" mountain sled.

I could see variable intake timing and .........................

I own a heavily modded Nytro. While riding in Cooke early this season, the Yammi test riders were in town. They all showed interest in my sled and made several flattering comments.

That being said, one test rider told me that I would want to sell my sled next year, in order to buy the new model. I assured him that with the amount of coin I had spent on this sled, I would not be purchasing new for several years.

He continued to reitterate the fact that I would not be willing to keep this sled next year...

He refused to elaborate, but it sure got me to wondering... what could they possible have to better a sled with $4500 worth of aftermarket mods?

I hope you are correct BUT, they said the same thing to me when I was there two years ago on my TAPEX, it was the NYTRO :face-icon-small-dis
I guess they must have been correct......................I sold the TAPEX and bought a Nytro :D

I'm sure the new sled will be the best thing since sliced bread and then not live up to even half the marketing claims. Every year the new sleds are supposed to be so great and then it takes years for the OEM's to work out the bugs.

I'm holding out for the 2015 hover sleds!

Remember all the talk before the release of the phazer. The most anticipated and blown up release of a sled, ever. I've never been so disappointed in my life. I still haven't forgiven them.

I was at Snowy Mountain Lodge last week and I was talking to Chad who is a guide there. He got to demo the new Yamaha sled for 2010 in December of 2008. He wouldn't tell me what it was all about but, he said it was "all that." He really hyped it up!!!

I'm thinking turbo with probably a whole new tunnel design for the Nytro! I heard that the Japanese are working with Americans on the design of this sled for the first time. They are supposed to be back out in Wyoming the second week of March.

Rumor has it from a yami rep the new apex will be in a nytro chassis . How they plan on tucking that 4 cyl in that sub frame I don't know .
