I just received my new SB15 attachment from snowbigdeal for my vario and I must say ABS FINALLY has a snowmobile avalanche airbag. Previously I had the 30L attachment and was a little worried about going to a 15L. With all my essentials I still have a little room. If you have a vario or you are looking for a new pack you REALLY need to look at the ABS vario with the SB15 attachment!! I want to thank snowbigdeal for getting it out so quick, ordered it on Wednesday and got it Saturday morning! And also want to thank ABS for listening to the snowmobiling community for what we want/need.

Got mine on order from snowbigdeal as well, should have it on tuesday. I'm stoked on this pack, Ive currently got the Escape 15 and looking forward to proper exterior shovel storage.

vario SB15L VS Escape Line

Ive been looking hard @ the ABS escape line. I am very used to having my shovel and probes on the OUTSIDE of my bag. Coming from a klim backback which has the little pouches on either side and a velcro strap for both probes and a shovel handle.

How did you arange your shovel/probes on the escape bag? are you limited to the inside of the bag or am I missing something? Beings my shovel will more than likely be wet/have snow on it, and want my probes very accessible if needed, would really like all those items strapped/mounted externally.

any suggestions or just pay a couple hundred more and get the vario w/SB15L attachtment?

Get the vario. ABS is moving towards the vario and powder models which have a base pack with a zip on/off shell. That way whenever they come up with a better shell, you don't need a new pack. You just buy the new shell for $150ish and zip it on. Plus I think the varios are a lot more comfortable.

Dizz,
We have an extra BD shovel handle that will fit your blade here at the shop.
One of us found it along the way. You want it?

Thanks for the pic.

looks like your shovel handle collapses all the way down. I have an HMK shovel, doesnt quite collapse THAT far.

The escape has been around for awhile,(well a couple years) and with the new vario line id have to agree that once they establish this BASE system and make it changeable and reconfigurable they will probably stick with it for quite awhile....tried a small vario on a few days ago, does fit well close to the escape, a little better even...

regardless, like that my handle will mount on one side, shovel in the middle and probes on other side...maybe im just stubborn...

thanks for all the info guys!
