New Truck or New Sled?

Thoughts on what to buy next: I have a 2000-4runner SR5 4X obviously paid off and a 2009 SummitX800-154 paid off. My question is should keep this sled or upgrade to the 2013 etec with all the extras compared to my 09 model or keep it and get a loaded up tacoma/tundra? I may get grilled on this but fire away........

3 seconds

I'm not a ski-doo guy but new sled of course only took 3 seconds to make that choice. lol If you got a good sled it's always easier to find a ride.lol heck i'd even let ya ride along.

For what reasons are you looking at a newer truck or sled? It seems to me you could live with either one for another year....so why not just keep both, and pay off some other bills, or spend the money on riding. But if you are dead set on one or the other, I would do the pickup. IMHO Jesse.

agree with some of the others - sounds like you have a nice sled. if the truck still works, drive it more. Save money and put towards future, rainy day fund, house, etc. Something to be said about being debt free.

I agree with getting a new truck. You have a good sled that works for you. I am in the same postion kind of... I am going to ride my 08 d7 for another year so that i can upgrade my vehicle to something that can pull a trailer

Right here!

I'm in debt with both my sled and my truck, but it's the only debt I have. However, it's putting a damper on my saving for a wedding and house.

Sometimes I wish I would've just kept my paid off mountain max instead of financing a new pro but really it was the huge pay cut I'm taking at work to get a great schedule that's killing me. When I signed on the notes I had a unique situation each time.

But ya, stick with what you got as long as you can my friend!

Heck with that your sled seems like a good machine and how the snow has been buy that loaded up pickup.

you might want to hit the service dept. up at the toyota dealer.I was in there last week and I found out that the new toyota trucks are not serviceable the tranny and other things you might want to ask some questions to find out what year you want.Example if your auto trans gets a leak on a trip and you have to add fluid there is no way to do that without putting on a hoist and hooking to a computer to moniter trans temp. Just a thought. At least you can put oil in the e-tec not that they use much lol

By now your summit should have at least 2500 to 3500 miles, time to split the case and service the crank bearings. The toyota will go 300,000 miles. New trucks are not that exciting, sleds are! Sledding is why you're even on this forum, the icing on the cake, the thing that lets you forget the job, home, and truck payments. Go with your passion, when sitting on that ridge top no body cares how you haul your a** to work. Life is about living, treat yourself as often as you can. Nothing special about a guy with a new truck... now a guy with a new sled ? thats living!!:face-icon-small-coo

Neither, put the towards paying off your house or a down payment if you aren't buying one now.

Best advice right there. It's a Buyer's market right now and you can get into something pretty nice. Seize the moment. I know if I bought a new truck that it would cost me another $2000 for plates. Eff that. My 03 hauls the mail as does my 09 Xp.
