New Trailer.......Tie Downs/Heat/Foor Protection

This past spring I bought a new 27' Enclosed trailer, I am trying to get it ready for this season and trying to keep costs down. I am looking for ideas on home made ski hold downs similar to "Superclamps". What are people using for heat? A Mr Heater on a propane bottle? And last but least...Floor protection. Any Ideas and or pics would be helpfull .

Is it a trailer designed specifically for snowmobiles? There are people on this forum that say they don't tie them down. I always do.

If strictly for sleds, indoor outdoor carpet for the floor. A thermostatically controlled self ignighting motor home force air furnace for heat. As for tie downs if around town I don't, if on the highway a cam strap front and rear.

With the carpet you can run carbides and actually steer the sled where you want it in the trailer. It lasts for 15-20 years and keeps them from sliding around when unrestrained. The only reason I tie them on the highway is an unplanned rollover or ditch event. The ride fine otherwise.

As far as heat goes. A furnace out of an RV is the best way to go. If the cost of a used furnace (which you can find on e-bay, craigs list, or if in Utah KSL.com) is too much for you then go with a kerosene heater. I heated mine with a kerosene heater until I got a used RV furnace installed and it heated the trailer fairly fast and kept it very comfortable. A propane Mr. heater is the last way to go (I do own one so I know). Mr. Heaters just aren't very good at efficiently heating the trailer.

I used to think that the guys who bought Superclamps were spending too much money and you could easily use something else for tie downs. Then I used Superclamps on my sled deck. They are super cool and totally worth the money. Just my $.02
