new to skidoo belt queston

was skidoo replacing belts on the o8s that had a commin apart? what did they do to fix or are they still replacing them free of charge hopefully any answer would be helpful

It was not the belts but the sled. They are done with giving away free stuff.

I just traded a used 166 belt for a 377, had to pay $27 price difference but I was OK with that.
I never really had any belt problems but I had mine geared down for free.
Just had the recalled driveshaft replaced.
Most guys had the handwarmers fail, get those fixed if they haven't already.

I also had great luck with the 253 belt ... 900 miles and still going strong ... as long as your clutching is dialed.

417300253 ... dealer says the 417300253 has been changed to 417300288, it is from the 440 race sled.

I just called BRP yesterday because dealer is my pissing me off. They (BRP) say belts are a wear item so your SOL. I have 4 blown 166's for sale cheeeep I love the sled I've gone places I never could before, but I don't think it's fair to come out with a new belt and not do something about the crappy 166's.

The '08 has issues with alignment and clutch setup. Both are wrong, make alot of heat, rob performance and trash belts.
With the right setup the -288 belt works great and is less $$.
