Hello i just bought 09 800 rmk with bd pump gas set up for 8 psi. I live in IOWA ride out west CO and MT would like to put a few miles on it before next trip out west. To make sure everything is ok what do i have to do put lighter spring in the waste gate so it dont build much boost.Any help on this or just the turbo would be nice never had one before. Has A/f gauge wide band what am i looking for 12.5 at wot. Thanks for any info

I have had two 09 BD pump gas turbos and have ran both here (MN) and have had poor luck. Both instantly would det with every combination of pump through full 114 VP and endless work with box settings, even with waste gate spring backed down and boost controller turned all the way down. I gave up and ran it at elevation and things were better there. Good luck at home, you are on the right track but I doubt it will run here. Best to just leave it alone and dial it in when you get out west. My Silber Pro is another story, just drop the boost down to 5 psi with 40 % 114 (same fuel mix I ran at 9000 ft at 8# boost) and it runs perfect without touching the box settings. Go figure. As long as your gauge is accurate, 12.5 should be a good wot target AFR if verified by good plug and piston readings.

I bought a used BD PG Turbo with the EBC last summer, and installed it on my '09 D-8 Switch. It has a new top end, with the fix kit installed. I finally put some miles on it last weekend (about 200). Using the BD recommended starting numbers, it was ridiculously rich. It would all but die at 2/3 throttle or more. I ended up with the psi numbers way down, and I'm still not done tuning, but it runs quite good. No det with straight premium pump gas, water temps staying good, and other than a lean condition at trail cruising speed and partial throttle, I'm very pleased. Now to get the clutching right. Need to get the RPMs down. The EBC is set to zeros on the set hp, and alt comp settings, and I'm getting as much as six to seven pounds of boost, and with the PTP button set at 20, I've gotten as high as ten pounds (I've been very cautious on the use of the button). No det light what so ever, thus far.

Does the EBC replace the waste gate plunger with some thing else or how does it control boost. pump gas at sea level BD told me race gas and change the spring on waste gate to 3 pd for IOWA maybe that EBC makes the diff i dont know. May i will just leave it alone and just ride it out west ive got other sleds to ride here. Let me know on that EBC pic if possible thanks

If u ran avgas or race, why would u have to change ur wastegate spring? I would put some fresh avgas and run it local. That way u can address any issues u have, if u have any.

I should add that I have 12 gallons of race gas that I intended on putting in at the first sign of det. Planning on trail riding this most of the time locally, and wanted to see if I could get away with Northern MN premium pump gas. Headed to Island Park, Idaho on Friday for a week, will see what happens. Wish we'd have had a normal snow year here so I could have gotten more dialing-in done, but...
