new to me m8 turbo, need some help before the first ride.

Thanks in advance for the help.
couple questions i have before i go ride this thing...
1) i have an a/f guage on the sled. What seems to work best as far as a/f readings go
2) EGTS, what is normal?
3) if someone could give me a quick run through of tuning with the boondocker box i would be very grateful!

The sled was set up at boondockers, but i am the second owner and have no way of knowing if anything was changed or not since setting it up. Also if there are any other things i should be looking for or watching let me know please. The sled is a 09 m8 with a boondocker PG kit. Thanks again for the help!

My AFR reads arounds 14 at idle, 13 at mid and 12.2 at WOT. I've messed around with the idle readings and any fatter it just fouls plugs. EGT's never over 1250 and piston wash looked great after 2400 boosted miles.

As for tuning, you need to read the instructions from boondocker first and foremost. There are a ton of tuning areas you can work on. I would recommend you ride it where it's set, get a baseline of what the AFR's are doing and egt's before you mess with it both on boost and off.

thanks, i have the tuning instructions for the first ride. i understand most of the boondocker box except the turbo settings. my a/f at idle is kind of all over the place.. does changing boost levels effect the tuning? if i run a little more or a little less will i need to mess with it?

Yes, if you adjust boost pressure you must adjust box.
Do you know anyone that runs the BD set up?
I would highly recommend finding someone to take you
on the first ride that has first hand knowledge of how to tune a BD turbo
sled. Call your local dealer. They probably could hook you up.
Would hate for you to have to learn the hard way.

Live in Helena mt...not sure if any of the dealers around here install turbos at all. I have one guy I talked to at another dealer out of town that rides a turbo, not sure the brand tho. Maybe I'll call him tomorrow and see what setup he has...if it's a BD kit I'll offer to buy him a tank of fuel to tag along and show me how to tune it and what to look for. I called BD today and they gave me baseline numbers and explained in a little more detail in how the box works. They seem pretty good to deal with....

Justin is great. Even from Colorado I've spoken with him multiple times, always awesome info, tons of seat time, real world experience that is invaluable. Some talk the talk, Justin knows his ****. Best of luck. Love mine, take care of the clutches and dd and you'll have a perma grin!!! Enjoy!

You may find it hard to get ahold of Justin. He's been working in Williston, ND for awhile now. Call Junior at Boondocker. He can help you out.

If you're changing boost psi you'll certainly have to tune for it, but just your on boost settings. Once you have your non boost tune you should be good unless you change reeds, pipes etc.. If boost is all that is changing, then it's boost that needs tuned.
