had some questions. whos doing what. ive read on here and other sites some info. havent found any real clear answers

besides properly checking for clutch alignment, cleaning, balancing, what are people running for setups? weights, springs? pulling the foam of the panels surrounding it?

im considering side panel lower venting. on the exhaust side does that metal heat protection plate get removed? is it ok to remove and maybe put heat tape on the panel just to be safe?

any gains from a SLP air intake kit? or pulling the silencer tubes out of the stock box?

i also noticed one of the a arms was replaced with a shift a arm with that other bracket of the back of the arm. are these a arms different? seems that the side with that shift a arm has the spindle at a different angle and creates a hard spot on the shock sort of say? i know the part number are different and they dont list the arms as being interchangeable.

read about guys running a resistor on the airbox temp sensor to help with the mild temp mid range bog? any info posted on that?

thanks guys!!

That Shift a-arm are probably from a model that have the stabilization bar.
And the RMK models dosen`t have them.
I would get the stock one to be sure that everything is right with the geometry in the front.

Almost sounds like you may have different length A-arms. If it came off of a 'shift' sled then its probably from a trail sled setup which those arms have a 43" stance where as the RMK's came with shorter arms that were 41" (I believe). Yeah, I would definitely look at getting the stock arm back on there.

The bracket on the back of the shift a arm is for the sway bar. The 09 and up dragons have the mount for the sway bar in the middle of the a arm. If he changed the a arm he would have probably removed the sway bar. I would measure both sides to see if they are the same. I would talk to a good dealer to find out if they have the same geometry.

What size engine? What year? Riding elevation? Need more info to help you out with a good setup.

thanks for the replies guys.

yes sway is off. ill look into the a arm, well actually ill just buy the correct one regardless to b safe.

motor is 800. year is 2009. no head update or reflash. riding mostly in the U.P. in th midwest (500-2000ft above sea level)

gutting the air box? yes no?

No. There are no noticeable gains since '07 with gutting the box. Some that have tried have had issues with the messed up air flow to the sensor located in the box. The remedy was to relocate the sensor under the belt storage cover (where the ecu is located).

Many of us have added more intake vents to the incoming air-box to ensure we are getting max intake flow, especially when in the powder and vents like to get covered.

so will there be any gain with a slp air intake kit? or save the coin?

think ill be throwing a fit kit in it before it sees the snow this season just to be safe!

thinking about a power commander. any input?

thanks guys

I installed the SLP Air Horn kit and also 4 of the round vents to allow easy intake air on my 700. It's not required by no means, but it couldn't hurt for the little it costs to do. I also installed a PC-V to richen my midrange and lean out the top a little, again, not required but made a significant improvement to my sleds performance.
