Picked up a 2006 RMK 900 159 in January.
Only been on a few touring sleds before this one.
Info from previous owner:
Last year the crank cracked and I had the Polaris crank and primary kit installed for $1400. The new kit can handle the torque of the 900 where "ALL 900 cranks" will eventualy crack - mine just happend to do so last year. This was an orginal design flaw from Polaris that should of been covered by the warrenty but was not. The NEW crank and primary is more sturdy and a better design then the orginal and the Polaris dealer has not had any failures with the new design.
The SLP add-ons make this machine better and lighter, but still very reliable:
- torque and push arms keep the engine and clutch in better alignment so that you do not break belts
- exhaust saves 19 pounds from the stock exhaust
- the heads provide more low end torque for deep powder riding
- the air intake (from the front) eliminates vapor locking that happens with the stock intake (which was located under the hood) - saves 12 pounds
Sound about right for the 900?
Any suggestions for additional improvements/mods? Looking to keep it reliable.
Put on about 80 miles so far. Not much to compare it with - it's by far best sled I have ever been on.
Thanks,
Neil
