I just ordered this today and was wondering if anyone has done this mod. its a new product from slp, they claim you will be able to crawl with this set up and it will raise your rpms but with lower engagement. but my concern is the clutch may have to be reshimed ? does this take special tools and training. dang I hate shops, they keep your stuff too long and theres something about letting someone work on my stuff who isnt smarter , not that I think I am genius but I do have alot of common sense

which M8

This kit your talking about, is it for a 09 or a 2010, different clutching between the two, ( 09 uses heavier weights vers 10 is lighter weights )
as far as shiming, I just sent my clutch in today to have SLP shim for MTX weights, it wasnt that expensive to have done and be correct. I told them I needed it back by friday, they said they would. Im paying freight charges but what the heck.

they told me it for a 2010 and its just weights , springs and some adjusting rivets I think, its not a big deal I think. I dont know alot about the clutch yet but dont understand why it would need to be religned and shimed, if you are just changing weights and spring. anything would be a help for the engagement. my new sled jumps 500 rpm when it engages, it starts to engage at 4100-4150 then goes straight to 4600-4650, no matter how hard I try I cant get the tach to just creep up, plus the clutch bangs , I have already changed belts and set deflection and that helps some. If it was off season I would just complain to AC and have them fix it under warranty but the nearest dealer is 150 miles 1 way and they would want to keep my sled for weeks and screw that Ill just fix it myself. this kit is advertised on the home page of slp

thanks for posting the kits application (2010)
Sounds to me the way you discribed it as MTX weights which use a variety of rivets to adjust final tuning of the weight. They say they pull like a heavy cat weight and acheive top RPM also. The heel is some what different from cat weight and needs a little more side clearance. I just sent off my 09 clutch today to have SLP re-shim the spider.
As for your harsh engagement, I would check your primary spring, some have been breaking, also check to see if your weights move with little drag and not hanging up. I dont really know what else would cause this if your deflection is set correctly. Sorry I cant be more help. Rickm

The SLP kit for stock 2010 M8's from SLP is 68g MTX weights with appropriate rivets to load 2g inner hole and 1g outer hole and a blue/pink SLP spring.

That's their setup for 6k-8k ft. It's about $120

yes I think thats about how the guy described it, I just hope it smoothes it out some, I dont think thats all of the problems I have , because it loads up at low rpm or when coming down a hill , I have to blip the throttle alot. but as far as engagment I hope this stops the 400 rpm jump during engagement.

the mtx weights have been around for a while, they are starting to put in heavier weights now and a stiffer spring. But it is pretty much the same old setup. So far I am not impressed with the mtx weights, and having to shim a clutch so I can't through in different weights to test against them. I haven't played with them much but as far as them being the chit I think is bullchit.

I hope that your SLP setup works better than the single pipe speedwerx setup that I demo'd last weekend, what a TURD. I'm probably gona start a fight, but the stock PooDragon was running around this 09 162 M8
