New piston for the "R" engine !!!
For the ( 2007 --> ) "R" engine they have a new and improved OEM piston
BRP part # : 420 890 726
This piston is new for the 2011 season , so that noboody has been able to get enough miles on them to tell if they are better or not !

Does Ski-Doo have some new & improved "OEM" pistons ?
If so, why are they better ?

The new piston have a wider ring 1mm lower than the others to prewent blow by and the pin for the ring is bigger and stronger now.
doo lowered the ring to get it further away from the ultra lean combustion and deto they tend to see at part thrtottle..
lowering the ring is well accepted as a good way to help it survive in a deto prone engine.
the flip side is a less snappy throttle due to later port closing and earlier port opening..

I do not think that you will se any difference in the compression because the ring is 1mm lower than the others. We are talking smal area here.
