New Rider

So I recently moved to Utah and always wanted a snowmobile ...so I picked up an M8. Turns out this whole "snowmobiling" thing is a lot harder than all of you experienced riders make it look. :face-icon-small-con

I've been out riding a few times this season and am looking for riding partners. I am an experienced backcountry skier, so I am no stranger to the backcountry and avalanche terrain. I know you spend a lot of your first year digging yourself out, so totally understand when groups don't want to drag along a newb. But if anybody wants to show me the ropes, I'd be more than happy to pick up post ride beers

Also if there's any other new riders out there looking for partners let me know too... we can help dig each other out all day lol

Anyone have any recommendations for good instructional videos or riding instruction in the Utah area?

Bushrider
In similar situation, been 15 years since I have owned a sled. Just picked up a 2014 M6000 hold over. After yesterday I realize I suck at this?. Want to ride but don't want to hold the experienced guys back. Shoot me a PM. I live in highland just outside American fork canyon. Maybe we could figure this out together! Then we could hang out with the rest of these guys?

Just moved here also. Need some people to ride with too. Let me know when your goin for a ride next. Ive been riding sleds for a while but im sure im rusty bc i havent even made it out yet this winter and id easily trade some pointers for a beer.

I would join you guys. All of my riding buddies live in ID and it'd be nice to have some people to ride with near by. I've been riding for a while but don't know my way around anywhere in UT. If somebody will show me some areas to ride, I'd repay you by helping dig you out. :) I usually keep my sled in Idaho but if you guys want to plan a ride, let me know and I'll start actually keeping it at my house in Syracuse.

I have a truck and I'm happy to take a turn pulling but I only have a 2 place trailer and it's kept in Idaho.

Rode up in the mirror lake / soapstone / wolf creek area today with my wife getting to know the area and getting her used to the sled. Fun day

Sounds Good!

I'll want to have a closer look at your ski rack on your sled. Looks like it works nice.... I was toying with putting one on my sled.

Its a CFR rack with dual ski mounts. They're very expensive IMO for just a way to attach skis to a sled, but I found a deal on one used in good condition. Real happy with it so far

I just bought a sled yesterday and I pretty much a newbie myself other than going a few times with friends over the years. Main reason I got a sled was for backcountry ski access so it's a good fit. I live in Park City

Anybody Riding this weekend? I know not the greatest conditions but still have a lot to learn on the sled and condition on the ski hills aren't great.

I'd be open to wasatch/uintas or north of Salt lake. Was considering a trek up to WY/ID but looks like they have gotten alot of the same warmth/sun we have

I will probably be working on the sleds this weekend. I got the flu that was going around and am now just starting to feel human again. If by some miracle I do get to sneak out I will send you a note.

I am either headed up to Tibble fork by myself or maybe down to Fairview to meet a friend from there sun. Will know for sure which one tomorrow.

I'm headed out Saturday and Monday. Looking for somebody to ride with. I would love to help out some newbies. I still remember how to ride sleds even though I'm on a bike now. :)

I got out this past Sunday with Mindstyle out at Mirror Lake. After having researched what I thought would be the most reliable sled I could find, my belt blew a couple miles up the highway. It was the original belt, so I guess it had to go at some point... I was able to limp it back to the parking lot and some experienced guys taught us newbs the tricks of getting a new belt on. (If they're on here thanks a ton!) Fun stuff... After we got mine back together we headed back out mirror lake out to the whitney area (I think?) Great ride, but cant wait to get out and play in some fresher snow

I am planning on riding Saturday, Who is going to be around?

C91x/Corban I'll shoot you a pm

A few of us are planning to ride this Saturday. Let me know if anyone wants to join shoot me a pm

Got out for a quick ride out of Tibble fork yesterday. Not the greatest snow but that means its harder for me to get myself stuck... still a great time in the mountains
