New oem engine- which one?

A friend of mine has a 2012 pro 800 that breathed it last breath last spring and is getting a new replacement engine under warranty. My question is which version of engine will he get? 2012 or the updated 13 or 14 engine with the stronger internals. Called the dealer and the guy in the service department seemed to think it was an exact 2012 replacement. Could this be?

When mine went a year ago I asked the dealer which motor I would get he said that Polaris didn't even have any of the pre 13 motors left so I would be getting the updated one. I confirmed with part numbers on the motor itself that I did indeed get a 2013-14 motor. So I'm pretty sure that's what you will be getting.

in 12 all i read on SW was the new dragon motor was all that so now it the 13 all that?

exactly my story. blown 12 800 engine was replaced with 13 800, only because of 12 was not avilable anymore. If replacement will be done now, you will get 14 engine, coz 13 are not available

Thanks for sharing your experiences guys. I thought getting an updated motor was a slam dunk, but after talking with the service department at this particular dealer, I became unsure.
