New Mountain Horse Setup

I just purchased a new mnt horse kit for a 2007 ktm 450 exc. I would sure appreciate any thoughts and advice on what I will need to properly set this bike up. I have never rode one before and I can't wait to get mine put together. Thanks in advance.

- Foot Pegs (either the F5, F6, or the new snowbike pegs from ProMotoBillet)
- Handlebar Riser
- Mountain Addiction Gas Rack
- Timbersled Air Box Prefilter
- Timbersled Tunnel Bag
- Toolbag with all the tools suggested in the install instructions

This is what I have going on so far (picking up foot pegs very soon). Gas her up and ride!

My experience with a 06 KTM 450 XC:

There is a small hole at the bottom of the airbox that lets snow in (follow the channel directly under the air filter) as well take a flash light and put it in the airbox, turn the lights out and find the leaks! Like the junction at the rear fender, the left side cover etc.

My bike came with a 14 tooth sprocket which was a bit too big, I went down to a 13 and am contemplating a 12 which will mean a larger idler sprocket to take up the chain slack.

Will be sealing the airbox up tight. How much riding are you guys getting out of a tank of fuel. I have a 6 gallon enduro tank for this bike, but don't know if I should put it on. Worried about too much wait on the front end.

So far a full day for me has only resulted in around 4-4.5 gallons of fuel. Talk about cheap!

Don't forget

Hot grips

Pilot adj screw for carb

Also, I do not think you want 6 gallons of fuel up high. Get a smaler tank and carry spare fuel on the tunnel.
You might need to stiffen up the fork pre load and adjust the comp and rebound as required.

I have 3 rides on my horse so far and it is a blast for sure. I seem to be getting about 20 mpg and that was in some pretty wet snow conditions. I am going out tomorrow and I just swapped out the 2 sprockets that are under the cover and just put one in place of the other and this should give me some more top end that I feel my bike needs.
2008 530 excr. I also cranked my forks to as stiff as I could set them.

:tea:

Will have my bike up and running on wednesday. Cant wait!!!! What about the rekluse clutch, is it worth the money. Would like to get together with some other guys with snow bikes. My buddy and I are the only ones around that have bikes. Located in.the Bitterroot

Rekluse

Some people like them. I think they take some fun out of the ride.
One of our group had one and took it off. He likes it better now.
Once the learning curve is over you wont need one. And they have no hold back, down hill.

Rekluse

Is that not adjustable? I thought you could adjust the RPM setting where the Rekluse disengages and freewheels.

At idle or if the bike stalls. No hold back.

My riding friend took his off after hitting a tree to stop last season on a steep down hill. Last years brake was not good so with no hold back and no brake is got ugly. Good thing the tree was there because after that was a cliff.

my bike has the original rekluse z start clutch and if you let the engine go all the way back to idle by pulling in the clutch then letting it back out it will free wheel otherwise if you lust let off the gas and let the bike coast it will stay engaged and engine brake like any other bike. i like it alot, it makes riding really easy, you can stop while still in first gear or only go 1/2 mph. walking the bike up the ramp into the truck is a breeze when you dont have to worry about stalling or pulling in the clutch, just let the bike idle and walk itself up
