new motor compression test.

just rebuilt a 2005 800 mxz. new pistons, old jugs and head. the question is do the rings take time to seat or is that old school. got the motor installed over thing hooked up. pulled on it till I was blue in the face(plugs out) then put a little oil in the spark plug holes and pulled again. ever thing felt as normal. put the compression tester on it and was shocked to see 85 psi first pull and 115 second pull then just 123 third pull. I have compression test a few motors at this same location and got same first pull of 85 psi but then they would climb to 150 psi. if the rings take time to seat, can any one give me advise for break in, oil setting, type of throttle input. thanks for the help. just another newbie

cheers

If you used oil when assembling (as should be done) than the compression should show high or normal. I wouldn't go by the first pull, go by the peak after many pulls. Alot of factors will effect a compression reading, all engines will vary.

thanks for the help

was out riding to day, sled ran great. toke it EZ on it for the most of the day no long extended throttle positions mixed oil in with the gas and all was good. before starting I pulled it over a bunch more times and did another compression test. it was the way I wanted it to be 90 first pull and 155 peak.
