New moose thread!!!

I didn't read the threads all the way through....but two things

Moose can be very dangerous....

and

bottom line for me though is if the moose got eaten and enjoyed at the supper table then all is fine...

both you guys are missing the big picture arguing back & forth, the biggest prob here is that this guy is going to be labeled a sledder & prob a hunter to top it off.you can argue either side that he was defending himself yah after that first warning the moose gave, the guy probably thought his life was in danger & it was.one of those hoofs to the head & you could be dead real easy or hurt really bad, moose are 1000lbs on the hoof & up.this guy deserves to get charged for what he did,its called harassing wildlife,he was within 10ft of a pissed off moose thats why it attacked him.he gave this moose nowhere to go so it came at him plain & simple & it makes us as sledders, gun owners look bad & that is the issue you need to be worried about not whether he was justified in killing this moose.iam a sledder, a hunter & have been around moose my whole life without issue.this was a guy that put himself into a bad situation he never should have gotten into & now a moose is dead & us as sledder & gun owner will pay for it plain & simple.:face-icon-small-dis

I couldn't agree more! To bad many are so closed minded on the matter.

I personally knew that moose.
We grew up together, served in Nam together, both members of the local Elks lodge (yeah he never grew tired of hearing wise cracks about that, ha, ha), we spent a lot of time fishing on his Carver yacht in the Gulf.

Point is, he has never, nor would he ever hurt anyone.
(well, except for the gookes in Nam of course, that moose was a helluva shot!)

There is far more serious things to worry about in civilization as a whole then about some guy that rides a snowmobile that shot a moose with a gun.

Its an animal...and if it got eaten with no wasted meat then there is zero issues, zero...Just my opinion.

That's an interesting post. Shoot what we want when we want and as long as there's no waste you give it a thumbs up? Wtf!

I think he means as long as it was harvested and not just left to rot (I'm sure the buzzards would be picking away at it) then it doesn't seem like such a heinous act.

Based off of the guys reaction to the situation and the speed that it took place, I don't agree with it at all, he shouldn't have had to do that, and he's super stupid for putting it online for many reasons.

I wish I could have seen the vid..??..

I am just going by basics here , person feels like he won't win a fight with a moose so he shoots it..and I hope the meat got eaten

so I am not informed of this situation but regardless I won't feel bad being a sledder owning a firearm because of this situation and I don't think to many others will try and make me feel guilty.

We are actually giving it the most exposure ourselves...haha..

I will try and find a link to the vid and I may be of a totally different opinion.

Yes I reckon there is the option of me to stfu until I see the vid,but if I was to make informed posts my post count would only be 10 instead of ten thousand

ok I seen the vid..i am uncertain if the sledder right behind him was a capable sledder to ride through the trees...so if they both were I agree they could have ridden through the trees to get around the moose easily and seen where it went from there...

BUT..

if he was under the impression he would have left the sledder behind him exposed and the target of the next attack then I TOTALLY SUPPORT his actions..

and I reckon he could have hung back awhile as well...him advancing was likely seen as a challenge..

I wasn;t in his boots so all my judgements are not in stone...but what really needs to be answered here is...What would have Zimmerman done and where are the SKITTLES...

Those moose should chew on the end of a revolver. Killing a poor defenseless man like that. You ever see a human with finger nailed fingers try to run in the city? All those moose would have had 2 do was back that big ol Dodge truck up and give that poor defenseless man a wide birth to go by. Or better yet they could have just sat back and chewed on some swamp grass and the man would have eventually tired and walked the other way.
