Hey guys My wife surprised me with a Christmas gift of a weekend in New Meadows for the weekend of the 15/17 of February and I need some info please, it will be my wife two kids (10,12) and my self so I won't be getting too crazy. The kids ride well and so does the wife sooooo looking for tips please!! :face-icon-small-coo

Any tips are great, ya know "there is this spot on the map, Don't go there everyone and their dog will be there" type info. Anything would be great first time visit to the area.. well at least on the ground....

Prolly aren't going to get any secret spots from any locals at this point. The Xmas/New Year weekends beat the HELL out of the mountains, I have never seen so many tracks. Even in my so called secret spots. Places that were one-track in and out to KILLER play areas are now 15 feet wide freeways. Further you go, the less people you will find. If it snows before you get here, you are good to go, with very little trail riding.

NM area

We have a parking lot that takes off on the east side of Meadows Valley, gets you to all the same areas one can access from the McCall area. Depending on where you are staying you may be able to take off from your place. As for evening relaxation, I would suggest Zims HS, nice facility and it really feels good after a day of riding. Eating is kind of scarce in NM, I would suggest heading to McCall for any real dining out. If Ernies stake house is open at Meadow Creek that is an option. New Meadows offers both ethonal and non ethonal fuel, so no worries there. If you see a few local guys headed west instead of east with sleds, don't pay attention... I promise they are not going to any secret riding areas...:D

Thanks for the relpy, I was told we could ride from the house so looking forward to that part. I will get more info and get back to ya

I ride in the new meadows area quite often.... West mountain up into no business lookout is a nice ride with a lot of groomed trail as well as shots to get off and boon dock. THis can be accessed from the top of the mountain up by brundage snowmobile parking near the highway or it can be accessed by a less travelled direction thru beaver creek out of tamarack near the store at lost lake. Another good ride it to take cemetery road in old meadows. turn right at the snowmobile parking sign and head to the parking area. From there you can again travel groomed trail and boondocking up to goose lake and into granite mountain and into the twin lake area..... Lots of riding here... I rarely make it to twin as I am out of gas most of the time from boondocking on the way up.... Have fun....THe masses usually travel close to brundage or up warren wagon road in mcalll........ Lots of groomed trails and lots of riding to be had.... and ya I am not telling you where the real honey holes are.....
