New "Kit Sled" idea

Hi all:

I was hoping I could get you guys to help me out. I have been toying around with the idea of starting a business that would develop a "Kit Sled". I am trying to gather some market research on what the public thinks of the idea. If you could click on the link below and take the survey, I would really appreciated it.

I do ask questions regarding, gender, what state you live in, and income, to get an idea on the demographic of those who are taking the survey. If you don't feel comfortable revealing that info, feel free to skip those questions. Rest assured that all of your comments are kept stictly confidential and anonymous.

It should only take 2-3 minutes.

Thanks Again

Bill

Interesting idea.

I don't know how far you are into the development process...but would any fab work be involved or is this completely a bolt together kit?

Is this something a non-fabricator without machines can do?

LOL.

BTW, I like the ordering of some of the questions....;

-->"How many hours per month do you spend on SnoWest forum?"

THEN followed up with

-->"Do you own a snowmobile?"

HAHAHAHAHAHA. LOVE IT!!!

I think a kit sled would be awesome, especially if you had some options. For instance you could choose a Pro style chassis in Carbon Fiber with a Cat, Doo, Cutler, etc.. motor, turbo or not, skis and track of your choice. Seems like the costs might be so high as to make it unfeasible. But if someone could make it work it could be a big hit. Good Luck.

Q19- You should include cost as an option.....and also we have provinces in Canada, not states......lol....just a little dig so you know that :face-icon-small-hap

I definately see cost being the big downside to this, I mean if you had to build a stock sled with parts the cost would be astronomical !!! But you know that and breaking your customer would be bad for business.....good luck. I will be looking for this in the future.

We haven't gone to far into the development stage yet, I wanted to see if there would be any consumer demand first.

I like it if we could get to down to very little fab work. Not everyone has a plasma cutter in there garage. :)

Again thanks for all your help.

Provinces

Ya, I spaced adding Canadian Providences, sorry

Cost of all the parts is one hurdle we have not addressed yet. The OEM manufactures have an advantage because of economies of scale. Thanks for input.

This is kind of a cool idea. More like a 1 stop mod shop. Would it be a predefined kit or could you shop more "A La Carte" so you can start with the pro chassis, timbersled rear suspension, camo extreme track, holz front suspension, raptor shocks... ect and just add or subtract "levels" of modifications. So basically you virtually build your sled online then the parts are rounded up and shipped to you as a kit? Or would it be like buy a Pro RMK Stage 1, 2, or 3 kit which are all predefined?

cool idea :face-icon-small-coo

Initially it would be somewhat limited. Offering only a couple different kits and options. But as the company grows our capability to offer more options will expand. The goal would be to eventually be like you said an "A La Carte" were people could fully customize their sled.

I like the stage idea, that might work well also.

Thanks, Bill

Cmx has survived using polaris based sleds. Just saying cost wise there is always a market for that gotta have it guy. My buddy has a cmx turbo 900 in a pro rmk chassis. Paid something stupid like 33k for it...but that's my point. He has no budget when it comes to toys. Yes very few people fall into that category but some do. Look at power addiction selling a 12k motor. Not for everyone's wallet but again there must be a market.
