As title say I made a new intake with help from sno addict it is on my 06 m7t and is made out of the charge tube from a duramax it puts the filter up into my hood behind my headlights witch have been deleted I am wondering if I am gonna have issues with heat from my exhaust or if it will be ok since I have the big opening from my lights let me know what you think thanks

Can you shield it somehow so all that hot air rising into that high part in the hood is blocked out?

yeah I was thinking about making a shield that went around it and sealed to the hood also have a big vent for the middle of the hood I might add to get more air flow I think this is going to help I have the sled running ok around town today before the change so I hope it holds together longer this time around

Well Heat Rises

I feel that it is going to suck the air out of the top of your hood more than the air from your headlight vents, since 50% of the suction will be from the bottom half of the cylindrical vent boot, I know You may not want to cut a hole in your hood, but why not run it straight out from the right side of your hood.

I have thought of that I don't have a problem cutting up my hood I just thought if this would work and be more protected that's the way I would leave it I think anything will be better than where it was down by the break

If its under your hood anywhere its sucking hot air in, imagine putting the hose from your shop vac under there as machine is running. Turbo will suck air much harder than that.

well I got about 20 miles on the new setup today and it worked really well my intake right above the exhaust pipe stayed nice and cool to the touch as far as temps on that I am not sure though I do need to add more weight I was pulling 8500 with 70 gram turbo mags which I thought were supposed to be like a 75 gram regular weight but over all the sled ran great it pulls really hard I cant wait to ride again

5-6 I was running 7 gal of m109 and the rest premium I couldn't get any av in time so I went with that we would have put on more miles but I found one of those hidden stumps and blew my clutch side bally pan apart so I will fix that when I do the 09 tunnel section bumper and gussets

An intake under the hood is an intake under the hood. Now add 5 ft of intake pipe and leave it under the hood didn't help you 1 bit. Don't be afraid its just a hood. CUT A HOLE :)
