New Hawk rider needing help

Bought a '03 500 Hawk and really enjoy it but I am looking for a few solutions.
When I lean it over in deep snow or fall over the fan sucks in snow and runs terrible (sputters) for about 5 mins or if I lean the other way the clutch will slip if it gets snow in. I taped off the clutch side which helped some but is there anything I can do for the fan. What are riders doing in the deep powder? Also my kill switch and tether have to be unplugged because
the wiring is shorting out. Local dealer couldn't find a harness. Any suggestions where to find one? Only other thing it needs is a updated ski
if anyone in knows where I can find a used one. Appreciate the help sorry for the long post.

Same problem with my 800 on the clutch slipping. Don't know about the fan since don't have one but maybe try some of that fine mesh that lets the air in but no snow. I know SLP (StartingLineProducts.com) in Idaho sells it. Seems to have helped on my 800 so far.

got a plan

great to hear your enjoying your new ride. I have had the problems you describe on both the six and 8 hawks. I sell the intake screen mesh used by the vent kit companys for sleds. on the 6&8 simply put the mesh against the screen and pop rivet the vent screens back to the body. should solve your problems. Give me a call any time will help everyone I can. 605-225-6900 Les

Conditions change.

Simmons specific Snow Hawk ski if powder is majority, otherwise AD B ski with snow tracker anti darting and trail adapter upgrades, keep original adapter for later as you accel.

Replace switches with touch motorcycle style.

Remove teather from harness and tie it to the toe of some whiney Twoskier, drag their sorry butt places they would never dream of putting their lazy boys!

Teathers serve no purpose on a Snow Hawk, when you drop or let go it's all ways within walking distance.

Ah young jedi, dissagree with you do i. Throttle stuck WFO with no rider, even with hawk on its side, could blow up engine I say. Tether goooood.

...

Watch out, I seized a fan side piston doing that. ( I might be the only one who blew a 503 Hawk in its life... so far haven'T heard of that many people who did it)

After that I put filter mesh over both openings side clutch & fan. Then done the clutch side only on my 800. That's an absolute must other than that your primary will slip as hell.

Good luck !

i finailly disagree with addict for once!

keep the tether for reason stated above and i have fallin off a time or 2 and the hawk did stay upright...if by chance the throttle did stick...it would have been a long walk to a smashed hawk or injured 2 skier....

you could always leave your tether attached and bring a spare to drag 2 plankers along for the ride!!!

addict you see the vid on youtube of the 2 planker with his throttle stuck and it wacks the trees? he had the magical "gold finger" left side throttle that he paid over 100.oo for just to smash his sled. the funny thing is he could have paid 19.99 for that same lever and 4.99 for a cable at my shop and made his own left throttle lever!haha or better yet, he could have bought a hawk that only needs 1 throttle and would probly have fallen over anyways when he fell off!
