New Gear??

Trying to decide on new Klim Gear. I am looking at the Valdez jacket or the Tomahawk jacket. I am also torn between the Freeride pants,the tog bibs and the storm bibs. Let me know you thoughts if you have experiance.

I have Freerides and like them...although 8 years later they really soak my arse...but hey, that's what age does to them.

You will be happy with either. Klim makes great products. I myself like pants better because I don't like the added heat on my chest from bibs. With that said I wish the pants had a bib/suspender on them I didn't get snow in my bum when digging my stuck riding buddy out. (I never get stuck!)

Very nice stuff, I think you'll be happy with pretty much any of those.

The main difference is going to be the layers of Goretex

Some of those are 3 layer and some are 2 layer.

Try everything on and crouch, bend, roll, reach up, stretch sideways and see what fits the best. Don't just put it on and look in the mirror, recreate actual use and feel for binding, sleeve length, pant length, jacket length (snow loves exposed back sides). I have the Valdez Jacket and Togwotee bibs, LOVE them both. I'm tall so the extra flap on the rear of the jacket and the bibs work good keeping snow out. Bibs also hold in more body heat, so lighter layers are worn to keep from sweating.

Buy whatever works best for you and then you can claim they are the best on everyones favorite "What's Best" threads that keep popping up.

I use the valdez and freeride. The valdez is longer and has snow skirt. I just sold 7yr old freeride at haydays and purchased new style freeride with suspenders. never wet all the years with klim. I use under armour cold gear as my base, works great.

same here on the valdez jacket and the freeride pants. the suspenders are great, they give you the big feel without the added head.
