I'll be getting one to replace my older "emergency bivy sac" from the same company. The new escape looks to be a lot more durable. I've never had to use one, but I think it would help in a real bind.

I still think a tarp is a lot more important. I have used one in a spend the night out in a blizzard at 10000 ft situation and it was one of the most important items I had. It kept a lot of wind and melting snow off of the group.
