New Cat dealer

As far as IM concerned, Dan is a GOOF.

Dad bought the M8 there, and Im constantly in there buying oil, parts if I need them, and accesories for my sled.

Not a single deal, even when asked for.

About the oil though.... I usually just bring my empty jug in and they fill it for $52.00 every time, just from the drum of it in the back.

Never a deal on anything.
I'd like to check this Chunk's place out, even though I live by C.O.P.

Dan JUST started riding... Im not sure if he has half a clue what's going on, so judging by that, this new guy can't be any worse. This is turning into a Roast Fest... are we on SpikeTV right now, haha?

They charged 52$ with getting a new jug. I guess it isnt cheeper to bring your old one back. Maybe ill keep the empty and get it filled next time.

Dave we have not met yet and I am very sorry that I didn't get back to you about the trip to Revy last week, but I like your line of thinking and I hope to get out and ride with you ASAP!! As far as Ralph's goes, that place is a Fing Joke. The ONLY dealer to go see in the calgary area in my opinion right now is Chunks in High River!!!

Hi there M9onNOS,
Well season is still early and I am sure we can get out sledding. And thank you for the complement I appreciate that. And now as Dan is leaving I will not be going to Ralphs again. He has looked after me real good over the last couple of years.I bought my first sled at Ralphs a M7 and after getting my threads on the front shocks stripped off to the point of never being able to adjust from there fork lift I had to argue with Mark about replacing. After a very heated talk with Mark they replaced one side other side is not adjustable any more.I ended up buying my M1000 from Agro after the way I was treated.Mark said that most people don't ever adjust their shocks as they at Ralphs set it up for you when they PDI it.
I have three freinds that went and bought at Ralphs this season and when I looked at their sleds they had not been pdi properly. On the 09,s because they are missing out side rear wheels people backing down decks or off the back of trailers are and are getting hi-fax caught in track windows and ripping off their hi-fax.I just wonder why me a sledder knows this and have told them at Ralphs after looking at the new sleds and still to much work for them.Noticed sleds at Chunks that the back hi-fax had been angle grinded so this doesn't happen.Real simple fix but with them charging you by the hour to diagnose the problem and then the money they make off of the warrenty that is all they are worried about.
If you are looking for a Cat in the Calgary area or need service go the extra 15 minutes and go to Chunks you won't be let down. Just my opinion.

Cheers,
Dave

Hi Bud,
Dan is the only reason I have gone back to Ralphs for parts. He must do as they tell him being an employee but I can assure you that he is a good guy.If there has ever been a product out on the market that I have wanted that they have not sold Dan will look into and get you all the info he could and in a couple of instances brought the product in.They have given me at least 10% off every thing I buy there but its not always about the money.I have spent alot of time just BSing with him and I have alot of respect for him and will miss him.I think the politics of that place is the main problem. The new guy that is replacing Dan has no experiance with anything to do with sleds or quads and reflects in their ability to help you. Just my opinion though!!

Cheers,
Dave

Why on earth would anyone buy the Cat APV oil at $52/gallon when you can buy Amsoil any time for $37 or Shell synthetic on sale at C-tire for $35.

The Cat oil is some of the worst oil I've ever used, it smokes like crazy, leaves tons of buildup on the valves, and the green dye makes a mess of everything.

On top of that, the scam that Ralph's runs in filling up the jugs from a barrel in the back they buy at a major discount and then charging you full retail for it has pissed me off since day one. No offense guys, but I'm amazed anyone buys their oil there...

Hi There Waxy,
I got 4500 miles on my sled last season all on Arctic Cat APV.Pistons are like new I am keeping for spares and my valves were pretty clean and to be honest with you I prefer to ride behind someone burning cat stuff over that Shell stuff anyways. That Shell stuff smells bad. To each their own I guess.
And I thought I made it clear and by the sounds of most people on this thread that we would prefer to go anywhere but Ralphs.I buy C-12 @ 4.75 a litre so a couple of extra $ on oil ain't to bad.

Cheers,
Dave

I don't want to sound like an A$$ either but just because you started a post does not give you the right to control it's contents. The whole point of open forums is that people can exchange information and give their opinions. That is all that is happening here. No disrespect intended just another posters opinion.

Well if it came down to this i would rather sit at home if the place is a peace of Sh@@t.

I was at Ralph's today and Dan said he is done,I liked him,but not really much for deals there......there was a R&M mesh M style hood that the new guy had brought in,so I asked Dan how much $$ for the hood, and he said something like $1200,I hope he was mistaken, because I'v bought Diamond S hoods for around $450 or less and I think they are lighter and a nicer hood....just mt .02.....I think I'll check out Chucks if I'm in need of parts up Calgary way.

If Ralphs started cutting off people that were not happy with their service they would be out of business in no time.Have you noticed the ratio to happy custumers to unhappy ones. They get a lot of their business because we had no choice as in no competition. Well now they do and Chunks is where I,ll be spending my money. I want the person working on my sled to be a sledder who knows what I need not what they want to sell me.Ralphs is more concerned with upselling you stuff you don't really need. Just my opinion though.

Cheers,
Dave

I ordered and bought my BR tech light weight Thasher hood for $95.00. $1200.00 would buy you a nice porting job which will make up for the stock hood weight and save you from buying after market skis as they will hardly ever be on the ground.

Funny thing is Dan is still there they are keeping him in the back so the others can learn.I'm not sure what they might learn without Dans guidance but thats their way of running the show.Dans last day is on Monday.
Ralphs RIP

I bought a grizzly from ralph's this spring...Pricing was acceptable and dealt with ralph for the purchase. No complaints there....As far as service goes, they are very, very expensive. I took my quad in there twice and will not be back...I wanted to service my quad there until the warranty was up, all six months of it.....In any event, they will not see me back.....

I have read all the responses to this thread, and just wanted to share some of my experiences with Ralphs. Over the past 6-8 years my family has dealt with Ralphs and have nothing but great compliments for the team at Ralphs. I think we have purchased 6 sleds in this time. Anyway one concern came up with a new 01 mountain cat 500 that was purchased. Right from new this sled would start up great, but never ran good on the trail untill 20-25 mins of riding, then it would clear up, and this only happened have of the time. After what seemed to be an awful long warm up,it was good for the rest of the day. So we take the sled back to ralphs to have them diag it. It was a hard concern to even describe, never mind to try and duplicate in the shop. They did some tests and ended up changing a part. It was a while ago and cant even remember what now but that doesnt matter. Took it back home and sure enough a ride or two later the same concern. Back to the shop. Ralphs talked to Arctic Cat with no availaible ideas. I the mean time my family had some poker runs planed and talked to Ralphs and got a loaner sled to ride while ours was being fixed. In the end they got the sled running great and hasnt missed a beat since, and was sure great to get a sled to ride in the mean time. Im sure Arctic Cat did not reimburse Ralphs for the time on the loaner sled.
Next situation was a 4 years ago and me friend and I were headed of to Revy for our 10 day trip. Stopped in and got some belts etc and off we were to revy. Well the next day was great untill my buddy dropped a piston in his mc900. Well hooked the rope up and down the trail we headed. Only a few kms to the truck and my primary clutch gernaded. Well what a good trip so far. Loaded the carnage onto the trailer and back to calgary. Pulled into Ralphs around 4 and they were arent you suppose to be sledding. Told to the story and well a day and a half later headed back to revy with the 900 rebuilt and a new clutch on my 800. Pretty gratefull for that service. Two and half day total down time in a 10 day sledding trip was not to hard to handle thanks to the quick service at Ralphs!
Last year back for our yearly trip and sledding with my m1000 and the primary cracked on it. Now thinking its 4 on the friday before easter weekend. Good luck, Ill be sitting in the tub all day drowing my sorrows while my buddies have a blast for the next 3 days. Now its 6 alberta time. I call a guy in calgary who new Marks cell number. I new they were headed to golden for the long weekend. I give him a call and explained my situation, he was already 30 mins outside of calgary. He called Dan who had not left Calgary yet. Dan went back to the shop, got a new clutch, weights, and everything that i would need to get going again. I meet them in Golden the next morning at 6, pick up the parts and back to revy and on the hill by 11, and had one of the best rided in my life.
Just wanted to say thanks again to the great sales and service I,my family and freinds have received from the crew at RALPHS!!

Hi burf91, It looks by the negative posts from others that you are one of the few that are happy with their service. I have no complaints with the parts department and I truely beleive that Dan is a true friend whom over the last couple of years has done nothing but look after me big time.It is because of Dan that i have kept going back for parts. It is the service department that I have the problem with and with Ralph selling his shares it'll only get worse. I just feel that as concumers we should be treated right and if you know the service department they don't know that the custumer is always right. I have spent enough money over the last couple of seasons at Ralphs and demand a little respect which is something that a few of the staff at ralphs don't realise. The boom in Calgary is over for now so getting sales will not be as easy as it has been in the past and the old school thinking that a few have there is going to bring them down if they don't change. Tim one of the mechanics at Ralphs is one of the best in the area but to deal with him you have to go through a guy that is more concerned about the profit instead of custumer satisfaction. This kind of get rich quick attitude is a thing of the past.Just look how fast our economy went bad.I am glad that you have recieved good service you are but one or two on this thread.

Cheers.
Dave
