New Boss seat on 02 MC

Anyone here attempt to put the new Boss on a 1M chassis? My tank plastic runs all the way to the back of the stock seat. Are you supposed to cut this excess off as the fuel doesn't run all the way back from what I can see. But what then holds the tank down? Boss doesn't have the video up yet for this installation. The seat does not have accomodations for this. Should I return? Thanks

Yes, you have to cut the tank or find a 1M tank. The 1M tank doesn't go clear to the back, they changed that in '03. The boss seats are held down with velcro and 4 snaps that you have to install, plus the loop over the fuel filler neck. (At least the older ones, they may have changed that on the newer ones.)

Yes they are different. An EFI tank will work on a carb sled, you just have to plug the hole, but a carb tank won't work on an EFI sled. (I believe, you may be able to make it work, but I'm not sure how.)

Thanks for the links. 1st guy is not EFI as I talked to him, 3rd guy is 03 900 which don't think was offered EFI. So that leaves the second guy. Will call him tomorrow. Thanks so much.

I just put a new boss seat on my '02 mc800 and I had to cut the plastic from the tank and then I just drilled some holes and bolted the tank down. I also had to cut some slits in the seats back pocket to fit my heat exchanger tubes into the seat.
