Hey folks - well believe this story or not but I have a 2006 SB 900 and I have just blown the FACTORY ORIGINAL belt, mind you only 1400 miles on the sled.
It happened on the trail just cruising at 30-40 miles per hour. I heard what i thought was my extra key rattling on the dash - then the sounds of shreading string then bang!!! I had just letoff the throttle as I knew what was going to happen, the belt blew into small perfect 1-2" squares.
Anywhoo...I had 2 extra belts on hand, I just purchased a new XTX and I also had the standard 1080. After installing each belt (3 times!!!) I couldn't start the dam thing because when I pulled the rope the clutches grabbed and tried rolling the sled at the same time. I had buddies lift the back end, I would start it and jump on, but when I came to a stop it killed the motor because the belt was still engaged. I did manage to restart it and drive the couple miles home no problem, when I got home it idled o.k. and didn't seem to be grabbing that much anymore???
What gives here???
