New Avalanche Safety Airbag Pack - the details

Hey all,

The new avalanche safety pack that you have been hearing bits and pieces of is almost here. As we speak it is flying between Switzerland and here. Here being Golden, BC. Once it is here we will be shipping it to Dealers throughout Western Canada, and one up in Fairbanks. We will also be able to ship directly to the US to all customers. A dealer network is not currently set up in the lower 48 for this year, next year it will be. For now you will have to order through us.

This pack has a bunch of advantages over the ABS including being lighter, providing trauma protection, a cylinder which is filled with compressed air and refillable, back ventilation, and a bunch more. Anyways i don't want this to sound any more like a commercial, if you want to check it out you can at http://www.avalanchesafety.ca.

On the site we have videos, side by side comparison with the ABS, pictures, and all sorts of other stuff. If you have any questions i will try to respond on here or shoot an e-mail to chuck@avalanchesafety.ca

Cheers

Please explain the trauma protection statement?
Roughly 30% of avalanche fatalities are due to trauma (hitting trees, bouncing off rocks, getting nailed by your sled, etc), and many more are injured. Dr. Jeff Boyd at the last International Snow Science Workshop in Whistler this fall has done extensive research into this. He outlined that the vast majority of those fatalities are due trauma to the head and chest areas. The Snowpulse airbag inflates in a horseshoe shape around the users head and chest to help protect those vital areas.
