Poo's next 600 will be DI, early spring 2012 release, and the 'new' 800 CFI 2 will roll one more model year, through 2012 models. DI 800 in 2013. JMHO, of course. Don't think they'll invest anything else in the 600, except for the IQR.
That's a nice guess... lets see how your prediction pans out. (I hope it does)
IMO...As long as the 600cfi design, which is already in the pro and meets EPA standards, is clean enough to meet EPA... I really doubt that you will see a more expensive DI system in the Polaris line before then... they are more complex, expensive and have more weight in general...Strictly an business decision.
Engine calibrations / validation seems to be the last finalized details of the new 2 stroke engines... regardless of brand.
due to emissions I doubt you will see a longer stroke..due to rod ratio's/piston/pin placements and how it relates to the engine breathing the shorter strokes are cleaner burning(for the most part), good thing is normally a short stroke/big bore normally makes more hp...vrs a long stroke/small bore of the same displacement...and as eric said..as long as what they have is epa compliant..they wont change it..the 800 got redone because polaris was gonna have a hard time selling the pro with the old injection setup due to reliability issues...now the chassis is out with what appears to be a good motor/injection which will get guys back on poo's..and polaris can concentrate on a better 800 motor for 12 or 13...
thats my thought on it...
