Never snowmobiled in CO before help please!

We are planning a snowmobile trip for early to mid march. Normally we go to cooke city MT but the snow just continues to miss them. I was looking at the snotel and it apears just east of steamboat springs is where all the snow is? Do you need to trailer your sleds up to the riding areas or is there lodging availiable where you can just hop on your sled and go? How much are non resident permits? where is the best place to stay? Any other help or advice would be greatly apreciated.

Thank you

Go see Mark at Thunder Mountain Lodge on the Grand Mesa, he will take care of you and he has all the lodging and parking right there. Also has a nice resturant, bar, lounge and beautiful out door hot tubs. The Mesa has tons of snow right now and it is miles of riding.

Yes, go to Grand Mesa........Stay @ Thunder Mtn.

Get here quick and bring a freekin' snorkel!!!

Many areas have received 40+" and still snowing!!! BTW.......this has happened already this season. Riding is fantastic.

It's dumping on western CO right now. To answer your question, yes you have to trailer to ride Rabbit Ears Pass (just east of Steamboat on HWY 40). Twenty minutes, TOPS. Out of state tags can be purchased at Steamboat Powersports at the far West end of town for $25.

They have recieved 30-40" in the last 3 days also but visibility is not so great.

Give me a call I have just what you are looking for. All the amenities and some of the best riding in the state. Not sure why the out of state tags are only $25 in Steamboat as they are charging $30.25 cents here. I think they used to be $25 but the price is higher this year. I will be checking on that Monday. Thanks, Mark

Don't know why. I was with a guy and that is what he paid at Steamboat Powersports a month or so ago.

I think someone goofed on the charges. The $30.25 is not negotiable or discounted.

Just drive past denver, anywhere after that you will need a snowmobile to get around. LOL

Do a Google search for North Park Inn in Walden. Talk to Dave, he is a snowmobiler and a overall god guy. They have real nice, clean rooms - some with a stove and refrigerator. New Hot tub a couple years ago. He will direct you to some great riding areas near Walden. You will have to trailer , but it is worth it.

just bought my resident tag at steamboat motorsports and they dont have any out of state tags left.if you want to go to a less used area to ride go to seedhouse some groomed and lots of pow to play in its just north of steamboat.
