Netflix for the Wii

My wife and daughter use it all the time. (good thing we have 2 tvs)...haha They can watch any of the older movies and old tv series. It's pretty cool. Was looking for the sledding vids on there, no such luck.
:beer; :beer;

So how does it work? Can it stream all of the flicks they offer?

I'm assuming that I just sign up and then access the netflix site from the Wii?

There area some movies that aren't available to stream. There are a TON of movies you can watch though. I'm well over 300 in queue, and I get the discs too. I'm actually surprised at how soon some of the movies are available for streaming. Sometimes they are available for a limited time. Well worth it for us. No more of the "there's nothing on" even though you have a zillion channels. Lots of stuff for the kids, and adults.

We've been doing Netflix for over 5 years now....and when they added the Instant Watch feature, there was no turning back. I could easily add more to my watch list.

It's definitely a good deal, and yes, once you sign up...you can watch through your Wii (I hook my laptop to the tv via HDMI cable). :)

you can stream movies, tv shows, specials, etc

DO NOT GET NETFLIX STREAMING, WITH THE PLAN TO STREAM ALL THEIR MOVIES. You will be dissapointed. I like their streaming, they had some great options, but almost all the streaming options are old movies. The best part is you get to see some TV shows that are on HBO, Starz, Encore, Showtime etc, without having to pay for those channels.

The quality is based on YOUR internet speeds. If you get low speeds it will degrade the quality. I do know the company that runs the streaming feature on Netflix is based in Boulder, not sure if that means anyone for people closer to Boulder or not. I would rather just avoid Boulder. :face-icon-small-hap

Try it out, if you don't like it you are out like $10 (no contract!)

They offer the first month free as a trial. You go to the website and input the activation code from your unit and you are watching movies galore. I personally love the older stuff, especially westerns. Watched all 6 seasons of Xena. I refuse to pay for cable or satelite...broadcast tv and netflix is more than enough. They even have a sitcom on president Bush.

I love the old stuff too. I've also gotten discs in the mail, only to find a month later that they were available on instant watch. One movie I really loved that comes to mind was Righteous Kill. I don't think it was even a month after I got the dvd that I could watch it on instant watch (limited time, it's not there now). They do surprise me at times with how fast they will add a new release dvd...but usually it's for a limited time.

There is a LOT of stuff I see on Instant Watch that really isn't that old. I'm going to cut back on my dvd plan because of the availability of the instant watch movies. :)

I'll post a link later but I read that Netflix raised their prices. About a dollar per month. They also plan to completely eliminate DVD and blue ray rentals due to overhead. They plan to be streaming only.
