needed equipment to ride?

Hello, I do not yet have a sled but will possibly get one in the spring if someone decides to sell their xm that is the snowcheck model otherwise it will be next fall when i snowcheck one. I was hoping to get help on what equipment I will need and what website or store (spokane wa) is good to buy from. Looking into this now so I can hopefully get good deals on gear when spring sales are going. Thank you.

you cnowcheck sleds in the spring. its how the manufactures secure early sales and also offers the customer to have a machine thats a bit different.

as far as gear you can look around on here for new or used stuff but i buy new cause i dont like touching other peoples stuff cause im a weirdo

it really depends on your budget, your enthusiasim, and terrain.

safty first
becon shovel probe and avy training all can be found here including class locations

helmet, goggles, facemask, gloves, good boots, snopants, and jacket should about do it.

Ya, what the weirdo said. Add an avalanche air bag to his list. Take an avy class this year. Take an avy class next year with your friends.

the avy air bag is a little out of the budget for next year as im getting married in the summer also. I wont be climbing any real crazy hills to begin with i dont think but definatly nothing if theres any risk of an avy at all for my first year. as far as the other stuff thank you now I can begin searching for gear. I just needed some priority things to look for.

LeviD
1. Avalanche class
2. beacon
3. shovel
4. Probe
5. sled tow rope
6. snowbungie for pulling stuck sleds out
7. comfortable back pack to carry some dry riding gear and snacks
8. some sort of tie down in case of catastrophic failure.
9. typical survival gear in case you get stuck or worse hurt (ie First aid kit, fire starter, small tree saw)
10. typical tools, sled usually come with tools that work on most nuts and bolts but adding tools that you typically use is a good idea.
11. Typical spare parts. spark plugs, spare valve for air shocks,

the list can go on and on. talk to sledders in your area and ask what type of stuff they normally carry. If they have been doing it awhile they will usually have some good ideas on what to carry.

talk to Michelle (freeagent) on Snowest. She works Oregon Trail Sports (541) 523-3500 . She is a great source of parts and gear and sends things all over. She will know what you need to get started. Great to talk to as well.

I have had good luck with First place parts as well. there are a lot of good companies out there that sell gear.
