Need your input

After 3 amazing powder and sunshine shred days, my sled decided it had enough...

So Here is the goods...

08 M1000

Broken connecting rod, chewed case, toasted crank, and in need of new pistons.....

What are some options I might have??? As far as getting a remanufcatured crank... And the slew of the rest of the pieces and parts? Looking on the bright side of things I'll have a hole new motor when it is said and done... :o

Talk to a good dealer and see what they can do for you. Some 08's had a one year factory with a two year warranty after care so you might get some help. If not... try a good engine builder and see what they suggest.

Good luck... at least the snow is so so in Eastern Oregon.

There was a recall for the pistons on some of these.
A freind has a 08 1000- and he just got it back from the dealer.
Take the vin # in and double check- it might be covered!!!!!

Hi Nicole, is the case salvagable, can it be welded or is it completely scissored in half? How is the bottom of the cylinder? Obviously you will require a new crank and pistons, ..just hoping that you can save the case and cylinder. I have welded cases before with good success, just depends on where the damage is and how severe. Any pictures of Stella's wounds??

Good luck, ..let me know if I can help in any way.

Yeah we are going to talk to Michelle at Oregon Trail see what she comes up with.... This sled hasn't been right since day one. Never seemed to run real great, and I have already been through 3 odometers under warranty, this one still isnt right. I am out of warranty almost 1 year to the day. Thanks for your advice guys.

edit:

Hi Ron, I dunno I haven't got to see the carnage yet its over in Halfway Mike said it is just really chewed up no cracks, he wasn't sure he reccomended new but said he would get a couple of opinions from some other folks and see if it could be salvaged. He said it was just a pile of metal in the bottom absolutly nothing left of bearings ect. Luckly Nothing made it up through the cylindars. It was the worse sound in the world when it went too, I instantly knew it wasn't going to be pretty.
