I am headed out to Alabama Thursday morning early. Normaly we head across I-80, or even down to I-70. But with the weather I am wondering about the option to go down through Moab, Monticello to Albuquerque then across I-40? Trying to avoid some of the storms. How is the road from Moticello to Albuquerque? Okay to travel this time of year or not?

That route will add a lot of time to your trip because of the samll town speed limits and they don't always take care of the roads as good as you might expect. I-70 doesn't look bad and is far enough south to get you out of most of the storms.

Here is a link to the Colorado DOT camera systems. Scroll down on the right side until you get to the I-70 cameras. Most of the trip through Colorado looks like clear and dry roads.

Moab, Cortez, Ship Rock then Albq is not a bad drive. I drive that alot. From Ship Rock head to Farmington then down to Albq, its faster. If you drive that late at night watch out for the Indians. From Cortez to Albq your on the Reservation most of the time. Late at night they will just appear in your headlights out in the middle of no where, drunk and walking, sometimes in your lane. I have had the happen a few times. First time it happened was around 3:00 am and I was scared awake......

80 or 70 is about six's as far as time. I have driven Vail and the tunnel when there is chain law for semis. Its not that bad unless your drive it on the Sat or Sun when all the skiers are trying to get back to Denver. CO keeps up on the roads pretty well.
