The first thing i would do is remove the stock engine . Then i would buy an american made lawnmower engine .
Heck no, for what a little kid wants the stock motor is plenty. Do the velocity stack/aftermarket governor spring/adjustable main jet kit. Costs about $80 and will get you up to about 15mph. For another $200 you can put an aftermarket pipe on which gives it a nice bark. For another $150 you can put on a D&D clutch that will give you a little more topend and a better jump out of the hole. All these mods add up to less than $500 and when done will entertain your kid for a couple more years. I rode my little guy's after doing all this and it's kinda scary cause the damn thing is so small and tippy, but lots of fun. I still had to turn the throttle back down after cause it was too fast for my four year old but now I can bump it up accordingly as he gets better. Good luck and have fun.
