thought this might be a good place to put this. Abby is a 2 year old female Rottweiler and a great dog. I am looking for a good home for her as I recently adopted her from a shelter here in Boise Idaho not knowing my landlord would not approve a rottie. They told me I could get another dog but failed to clarify they only allowed certain breeds. So for me this is very heartbreaking as I have already bonded with her. I have had here for a couple weeks and she is just the sweetest thing. She has a very friendly nature and seems to love people and gets along great with my kids. She is very affectionate and loves to cuddle. Her history is she had been neglected and starved and she does not like living outside. When I got her she was still very thin and you could feel her ribs. She has now gained some weight and doing well. She is 70 pds but could use another 5-10 pds. She has been spayed. She has all her shots up to date and she recently had kennel cough and finished a course of antibiotics for that. I also have a 95 pound Lab in the picture who she has been great with. She does need a few days of supervision with another dog as she is a little food aggressive but only with dogs not people. I can put my hand by her food and it does not bother her. She also is young and plays hard and aggressive so a dog close to her size would be best companion. She is fully house trained but sometimes at night when she sleeps she has peed in her sleep. Maybe dreams so I take her out right before bed. A bed with a protective liner for her would be good. She would be best to have as an inside family dog other than when she is doing her thing, exercising , playing. The previous owners said the reason for the shelter was because she kept escaping but they did keep her outside only and I have had no problems with her doing this. She goes and plays and she will hang out but with both my dogs they stay inside when I am not at home. She is protective and will alert you if someone is by the house but she does not bark much at all. She is also easily calmed down after she is introduced to people. She gets very protective when other dogs come near the house so be sure the yard is secure and supervise when stranger dogs are around. Once introduced she will get along with other dogs but she likes to think she is the boss. She does beg when she sees you eating so this is an area to work with her on. She will come when called, sits, lays down, rolls over, and shakes. She has had some leash training and does pretty well but needs more work. Overall she is a great dog. I have her records and she has been microchipped. I have a new pink collar and leash for her and harness to walk her as it is much easier for big dogs and I am a a small person. I am willingly to consider a road trip to take her to a new home if it isn’t to far away from Boise Idaho maybe up to a 6 hour drive. I just want her to go to a good home and if I could I would keep her. If I could buy the house I am renting I would keep her in a heartbeat. Pictures to follow
