need to drain coolant system

I have to rebuild my top end on a 07 700 dragon. Any tips on how to drain the coolant so I dont get it down into the bottom end???

I have a few feet of 3/8 vinyl tubing. Stuff it down the bottle, use a shop vac to start the siphoning and then put that end in a jug to catch the majority of the coolant. Just use the shop vac and hose to suck coolant out of the head and other areas where siphoning won't work.

I always put a plastic garbage bag under the lower coolant hose on the crankcase and just pull off the hose and let it drain in the bag, pull it out and cut corner off bag and drain into a antifreeze jug, very little if any mess.
