Need to borrow 2 or 3 beacons

I am getting ready to do my annual Snow Days with 70 12 year olds.
This will be the 7th year of our Snow Days.

Lolo Pass Montana.

February Powder.
Day 1: Snow Caves, fire starting, Avy safety
Day 2: Snow shoeing, XC skiing.

I have 4 analog SOS beacons, but two of them had the yellow plastic break off down inside by the plunger. No worky.
I need to borrow a couple beacons.
Can anyone send me a beacon or 3 to use for two days?

PM me if you are able to help educate our kids about winter backcountry skills and safety. Let's get them pointed in teh right direction at a young age. Lots of backcountry snowboarders and sledders in this town at this age.

I'll mail it back to you immediately safe and sound. You'll get your beacon back with brand new batteries and a thank you included.

I've got 3 people offering to send a beacon or two.

PERFECT.
Thanks Westmont, T-bone and xcrash911. You guys are awesome.
You're awesome.

I'd guess depending on how far you're shipping them that we'll need them postmarked by the Weds or Thurs (Jan 18th or 19th) before that just to be sure they get here on time.

If you need one more Scott, let me know. I will be heading out west tomorrow, but I can send it out to you when I get back on the 9th.

We had an AWESOME day one.
I'll post pics when I get a chance.

You guys are AWESOME.

What can ya say when a guy goes onto some internet site and asks to borrow about $400 worth of electronic equipment and two total stranges drop it in the mail almost before he can even finish typing the post.
3 beacons were sent to me. 2 from Chester, MT and 1 from Walla Walla, WA.
Thanks T-bone and xcrash911. You guys are great in my book.

KUDOS to you Scott and KUDOS that helped out....that is what this forum is all about!

I have a TON of pics coming in from those two days. I'll sort through them and get them up...and I have to get beacons back into the mail.

Thanks everyone.

Here are a few pics...didn't get any from the parents yet.

Here are the ones I've taken.

Kudos to you Scott for taking the time to teach these kids what backcountry safety means.

(and kudos to your dogs for not eating any beacons people may have sent to your house!)

Looks like a great thing you did there Scott.

You can buy a new "key" for those SOS beacons. The only thing it you have to sew in the new one. Just contact SOS and they will send you new ones. I think they charged me $5 for them.

I wish it were just the key. But it is the yellow plastic part that the key contacts that is down inside the beacon. It's what pushes the actual plunger down.

Mindy, they can't eat that stuff when the postoffice won't deliver it to the house. Lol
