Breifly met ChubbyDog at tower, had to move quick, ran out of gas twice...

this is my first season riding in Utah. how would you categorize each of these areas? what's good, bad or different about monte/daniels vs. heber/kamas?

Watched the weather tonight at 5:30. storms pretty much everyday this week. Biggest on mon, weds, and friday. Yea for us! Had a great ride Hatcher, that was an epic day!

this is my first season riding in Utah. how would you categorize each of these areas? what's good, bad or different about monte/daniels vs. heber/kamas?

Monte / Daniels = trail riders, for the most part, if you know Monte like
I do, their is some wicked chit (like up by Powder Mountain or over by
Causey) also the snow is not as deep, IMO. Heber / Kamas area has way
better snow and you have access to lots of really good areas like Soapstone,
Wolf creek, Millholllow, just to name a few. IMO

Sat. was real good once we found the good stuff (east of Tower) Deep!!
about 9,700 feet.

This is my second season here, lived in Alaska for the past 5 years

IMO, daniels is good when the snow pack get deep and a decent base is under some fresh, but this place has way too many trees for my flavor...monte had some low snow totals last year, so i have no idea

anything inbetween Evanston Wy and Heber was a blast last year......so i guess this is the norm

MAdmax - im posted the brake damage in the doo forum....check your track....and find someone to fab up a beefy bracket of some kind....as this will be a huge issue for this sled

parking lot) Lake creek parking is about 7 miles closer to Tower

ah yeah, I see it down by #7 on the map.

is this the same spot that an avy fatality took place last year? I thought I remember hearing about it during a visit last Christmas...or maybe it was south of Strawberry but not the one that occurred at Fairview.

Kevco just told me who you are the other day.......i never thought i rode with you before, and the OT thread from a few months ago makes more sence now.

None the less, my new sled can get my big arse around now....that tiny 151 from last year is collecting dust in the garage

I have only been in the salt lake area for a few years now and I have sure enjoyed the heber/kamas area. I would agree with an earlier comment that the monte/daniels area is more for trail riding and site seeing but heber/kamas area is for powdering and backcountrying, of course site seeing is a bi-product. The area is probably the same as far as acreage goes but in heber/kamas it just seems more open, it is very simple and effortless to find new and untracked areas.

We will be up riding in Jefferson, TwoTop, Lionshead and Paradise this new years weekend, but when my buddy and I get back we will be very anxious to get out riding with any one who is for showing us somewhere new.
