We turn everything off..

Lost the pull rope in the recoil assy today and it got wrapped up in the stator. After running for a while we noticed that the battery display would go dead and the digitron we have mounted would die. We started turning everything off and the battery display comes back up again.

Got her home and cleaned out the mess, installed new rope but still having problems. If we turn the handwarmers on or the headlight, the display goes dim.

Any help would be appreciated!

dub, did you see any damage to the stator wires? sounds like it hurt the stator...

Like AK Said....

The stator itself is shrouded by the flywheel.

Sounds like the wires coming out of the stator MAY have been compromised and possibly shorted.... You'll need to pull the cover and check things very carefully, IMO.

We didn't have a puller but cleaned everything the best we could. There were some pieces on the pick ups that may have caused this issue. We are going to try it today.

G-dub,

The pickups are for ECU control and do not generate power.. They are he crank triggers... 5 pulse and 2 pulse per revolution.

That could be affecting the way the ECU senses RPM and activates the chassis relay at the wrong time.

darn good chance of it eric..the 2 pole if I had to bet...I have a perfect stator that lost the 5 pole..it idles..and will run full throttle...dead zone in between...

Took the sled out today and the recoila came loose and busted the housing... Good times! Got everything back together after taking of the flywheel and stator to clean and check everything. Sled will run fine and now generates 4 bars on the display with the handwarmers on high, when you plug the headlights in the display goes dead, with everything off it goes to full charge. Is it possible it will just take a while to get back to normal? We had a ton of debris in the entire assembly, but stator is fulliy functional.

Think it's just the chassis ground Eric? I will start looking and add one to the motor mount. I have improved this circuit but not added the one to the mount yet.

This is getting old, I think the stator is going fast! The display keeps going dead with any accesory on..

Also we were throwing all the stock stuff back on to take it in under extended warranty and the pistons are scuffed. This is on a complete new engine after we lost the skirt at 1800 miles.

What the hell to do to keep this motor running? HELP!
