Where are you guys getting race gas in the South End? I live in Auburn, work in Bellevue so would love to pick it up south of Bellevue and better yet close to Auburn. Any brand preference? Octane rating?

We stock VP race fuel at our shop in Preston and at our 76 station in tukwila. We have most fuels in stock like 110 , c12, c16, q16 and if we don't have what you need we can get same day in most cases. IMO VP is one of , if not the best fuel available. Between the shop and station we can get you fuel 7 days a week.

i think its don smalls in auburn has Sunoco.

And trick fuel. They don't compare to vp fuels. Trick and sonoco have different burn rates. Trick sets off the det censor and sonoco doesn't. on my 800r with a head, reeds and a can. Plus the trick tanks sit outside. Hot cold hot cold. Better chance for water in yur fuel.

I wouldn't put trick in anything of mine, but ive burned a lot of barrels of Sunoco. I always use the supreme.

Race fuel

@ Matte Murder Just wondering why not AV Gas? Run a little marvel mystery oil in your fuel to combat the lead kill the O2 unit & spark plugs. It burns at 110 octane & is only around $0.50 more per gallon than pump premium vs $12-$15 gallon for 110 race. You can buy it at almost any airport around. Just a thought

What gas are you talking about? When you say Av Gas are you are talking about LL? That stuff is about a $1.50 more a gallon than Premium and it is only 100 octane. Way different than the 110 Trick Racing fuel. Not even close to comparable.

100LL AV Gas

I have a commercial pilots license, and have one of the cheapest sources for AV so I feel I'm not talking out of turn here, and not my intent to dis-credit you. AV
Gas is 100 octane and burns as 100 octane, not 110. It is way different than unleaded 110 octane fuel. It has low amounts of lead, burns a lot slower, is way more stable, especially at altitude, and is required by FAA to maintain its octane for min 2yrs. Lots more info but don't want to write a small book, look up on any aviation fuel site. The cost is usually around $5.50/gal and up. Lower prices are in bulk and from a fuel supplier therefore not having all the FAA taxes, ramp fees etc. on it. Unless you have access to it through a "friend", you can not purchase it at an airport unless it is dispensed into an airplane. A fairly recent new law, can't remember exactly when this went into effect. It is not always enforced at smaller out of the way airports. You can though, purchase from a bulk fuel supplier just about anywhere.

Thanks for all the responses. I run av gas in my 4 stroke turbo. I will need to bump the octane in three 2S engines this year. 2 are built by Trygstad and he does not like av gas. He correctly states that it is high octane, low lead fuel built for low RPM aircraft engines(most where designed decades ago). I have used av gas for years in single seater race cars. It has high octane, is always super clean, is really not much more than premium unleaded(all stuff that has been said correctly) is always really well taken care of and av gas is super consistent no matter where you buy it all over the country. That said, I really hate to not follow engine builders instructions. Trygstad wants us to run 2 gallons of race gas per tank when we ride under 6000ft so that is what I am going to do. My plan is to mix the race gas and non eth pump premium in my trailer storage tank and dispense it mixed from there.

I have a Trygstad 872etech i put a 1,000 miles on ast yr and I just ran 1 gallon of av gas per tank of 91 non ethonal and had no issues. most of those miles i unloaded at about 2,000 ft. Just an FYI. you will be very happy with Daves motors!!

He set mine up with a little more compression and told me to run 2 gallons of race gas per tank for 3000-6000 ft. He has nearly 20 different combinations of porting and compression ratios. Going to go with his recommendation for fuel.
